didnt find they were that cheap for tyres or much else only the occasional item....£5 less than Humphries who duly price matched Costco's 123.00 a tyre....so saved the membership cost on topStevie Coppell's record breaking blue and white royal army - championship winners 2005-60 -

i presume you work for network rail?
generally, as long as you can prove you work for the railway, you can get access to these places (you buy coffee etc for the office or whatnot)

So, either Humphries are exceptionally cheap, or your tyres are very much an exception.koru0 -

Better to look for special offers in your local supermarket.
I find their wine prices are cheaper and you dont have to wait for special offers.
I found Villa Maria sauvignon,Errazuriz blends ,Wolfe Blass to be consistently cheaper.Champagnes are decidely cheaper.
As well they have a selection of single bottles uniquely choosen with an eclectic range.0 -

I tend to find that Sainsburys usually has a special offer that means you can buy a good bottle of wine which would normally cost £7-8 at a reduced price of £3.99. I usually buy one, to try it. If I like it, I buy half a dozen cases, to take advantage of the special offer.
I seem to remember looking round costco and finding they didn't have anything for as little as £3.99. But if you particularly want Villa Maria Sauv, say, perhaps they are indeed usually going to be cheaper, unless a supermarket has that particular wine on special offer.
On beer, I am more choosy. I prefer Becks to virtually anything else, and costco don't stock it (at least whenever I have looked). I find that every so often a supermarket has a special offer on cases of 24 bottles for about £11-12, whereas they are usually closer to £20. So, when I see a special offer, I buy half a dozen cases, to last me until the next special offer. Again, I don't think costco can compete with supermarket special offers, but if you want a particular beer when there are no special offers, costco may well be cheap.koru0 -
My local village tyre fitter beat Costco without a price match - under £120 for a pair if Pirellis on a Vectra all in. My co. has a Costco membership offer but I went to look and it did not really suit. Everyting is BIG as if the families who shop there live in supersized, fast spending households. One day I suspect Costco will have to revise it's marketing model.0

Not quite sure if i agree there. Myself, my mum and my aunt split my membership, so round about £10 each and we all go shopping together. If we see things we want / need we buy it and split it three ways so we are getting the bargains and saving cash and not having to find somewhere for a huge amount of stuff.

I'm also a huge fan of the clothes - now have 2 'costco coats' which are really nice and fantastic value.
you do have to buy in bulk there, but for me, that's what freezers and cupboards are for. for someone with a limited but not breadline budget, it's also about quality - i can get much more for my money there than in a supermarket, or i can get something better quality for a similar price.
i have encountered some not so friendly people guarding the doors, but after not being able to join because i didn't have any payslips on me (as you do!) they did suggest we go and have a look around the store to see why i should come back with one.:happyhear0 -
