Freezing Sandwiches

Hi jo,
I just lift the sandwiches out in the morning and they're defrosted by lunchtime. If the water is defrosted by lunchtime then the sandwiches should be too.

Thanks Pink-winged for linking the old thread up, just read through it and there are some great ideas.
Question though...my ds has got one of those cooler lunchboxes and I freeze a bottle of water for him to take in his box to keep everything cool. Do you reckon the sarnies would defrost by lunchtime if I took them out in the morning, or should I take them out the night before?
I found that through the summer this was OK, but through the cooler months, the sarnies were still hard in the middle. I tend to pull them out as soon as we get up, then pack with the frozen carton and should pretty much be defrosted by the time they are packed up.

Hi
In an attempt to help with the cost of food and to get my DS1 (15 soon) to eat better I thought I'd give freezing a batch of filled rolls/sandwiches so all he need to do is take one out of the freezer. Thing is he is SO fussy about food I don't know how he has managed to live to 15!! So currently he likes chicken breast & mayo, pepperoni or choc spread. No marg or butter. Are any of these freezable?Banana LoversBuy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning0 -

Hi Ruth,
I dont personally freeze sandwiches, have you tried posting this question on the grocery challenge thread. I have read that a few posters on there do freeze them.
I know that mayo does not freeze well, someone mentioned that it seperates.
Cheese/ham/pickle freeze ok (i think)

Hi Ruthieb,
As carol has said mayo doesn't freeze well but the chicken and pepperoni will be fine....not sure about the chocolate spread though. Maybe try freezing one and see how it goes? There's an earlier thread on freezing sandwiches that should help so I'll have a look for it and add your thread to it.

Well if it freezes - you can use it. If not dont. For example you can use veg spread but not butter.
Filling: Pastrami, cheese (all types), ham, pork sices, beef slices, corned beef, meat or cheese with pickle, piccalili, cooked veg but not raw, (roasted vegetables), peanut butter, smoked salmon (careful to olny freeze once)0 -

Hi llamedos36,
Ham, chicken and beef rolls will be fine to freeze as long as the meat hasn't been previously frozen.
This earler thread should help with ideas for other freezable fillings:
Freezing Sandwiches
I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the suggestions together.
