I would like to make up sandwiches for my mid day meal but want to make at least a weeks worth at a time. Any ideas for fillings that freeze well?
Thanks in advance. :beer:0 -
Cheese? - then add sliced tomato or pickle or whatever on the morning that you want to eat them? - I used to do this for my first husband...but then he'd have eaten cheese sandwiches every single day, given the choice!
Ham sandwiches freeze fine
In fact, most sliced meats will freeze fine, it's the bits of "trimmings" ( you know, the nice bits that make the sandwich worth having) that tend not to freeze very well, hence the tip about putting that sort of stuff on at the last minute.

I bulk make and freeze my OH's corned beef sarnies and he just takes a small bottle of brown sauce in his lunch bag to add when he's ready to eat.Abbey cc-£8,154 &More cc-£9,705

I didn't even know you could freeze sarnies! Thanks ever so much for this tip, there's 5 of us indoors and it's gonna save a huge amount of time getting the lunches ready in the morning!! :j :beer:DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0

I give my daughter a frozen sandwich every morning, and by lunch time at school it's defrosted, but still nicely chilled to eat. Remember those warm sarnies on the school trips...erghugh!!:rotfl:0

corned beef, ham, chicken, cheese and spam all freeze fine, but I find that tuna is a bit iffy tasting when it has been frozen.Jane

Hi sundancer,
There are more suggestions on this older thread that may help too:

Thanks Pink-winged for linking the old thread up, just read through it and there are some great ideas.
Question though...my ds has got one of those cooler lunchboxes and I freeze a bottle of water for him to take in his box to keep everything cool. Do you reckon the sarnies would defrost by lunchtime if I took them out in the morning, or should I take them out the night before?DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0
