Have you been up to the grocery challenge? Loads of good money saving ideas.
DD didn't know her personally as she's only in year 2 but its quite a closeknit school so the whole school has been informed.
I'm looking at all the challenges nowSo it looks like I may be online for a while enjoying my last shop-bought readymeal as I'm craving lasagne
Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
nicki. ((hugs)) for you and you dd .
In my nieces school there are 3 parents that have had terminal cancer but can't imagine (and never want to) who it must feel to lose a child. My heart goes out to their family.January Grocery 11/3740 -

Much cheaper and tastier to make it yourself:D Grocery challenge is fab, everyone is really friendly and supportive, i've saved loads of money since starting it;)The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
(((hugs for Nicki))) DD might not realise but it does hit home very hard how fragile life is.
One of DS3's friends lost his mum to cancer when he was just 2.. and then a few weeks later his dad bugled off to work overseas leaving the 5 children to be looked after by family members.. I got really upset when it was mothers day and DS3 was sad because his friend couldn't make a card because he had noone to give it to.. I said he could laminate a card and leave it at his mums grave or make one for her and keep it himself or make one for his grandma who he lives with.. but I was sobbing like a twit.. It is very very sad the number of losses the children in many schools have faced. I think I find it harder to face than he does!
Triker.... slumming it up the Avenue then? I hate it up there pretentious f***wits most of them.. but I may well end up there this weekend.. must phone-a-friend! I stayed in Friday and Sunday!!
I am shattered.. might just go have a speedy half hour kip before I have to feed the marauding horde.
AND I am trying to decide on a phone upgrade on DD1's contract but I can't get a decent phone without upgrading contracts to a more expensive one and I can't afford to really.. I am considering putting her on a PAYG though.. it would be cheaper than her contract I'm certain!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Finally home again!!! 7 pages already! I feel like I've really missed out today. I've had a quick skim through. I'll catch up properly with a coffee in a mo.
DeniseNZ & Sinderella - Thanks for the concern. It was windy here this morning but thankfully the rain held off until I got to work. It sounds like a long walk but it's not that bad. It's all main road, busy even at that time of the day, and brightly lit with no alleyways for potential wrong do-ers so it's quite a safe trip too. I'm hoping I can get a lift with my Mum tomorrow, though.
Boddy - Yes, it's an early start, but it could be a lot worse.I've only got 3 earlies this week, then Thursday and Friday I'm off. Then I'm onto lates, 2pm to 11pm. They're better as I can catch the bus.
Nicki - Please don't give up!
Right, cuppa, catch up and bath. Then it's time to fly.o-* I will be Debt Free by Jan 2010 *-o

Evening all
Prettypennies – get yourself a wheatcushion or a hot water bottle and apply heat to the stiff neck - do it for 20 minutes at a time - it really helps - so does wearing a scarf.
Nicki - hun, hang on in there. You'll look back on this time in a few years with a different attitude. I know how things seem dreadful when you're in the thick of them but what doesn't kill us makes us stronger...... You CAN do it...
All those with poorly people or who are poorly yourselves, big hugs from me.
Some of the posts on the board today have made me think what I considered to be a bad day in the office is nothing really. The extra half hour journey because a new set of temp traffic lights had sprung up and a permanent set had failed, coupled with the fact my rear windscreen wiper failed during a heavy downpour and refuses to work, then finding my computer account was locked out when I got in and I couldn't do any work until someone came in who could unlock it (about an hour later). These are mere nothing niggles compared with some of what you lot are going through.
I shall go and do some flying now because I can...I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

Ok, I'm suddenly not happy. I was elated (no, really!) when OH called me at work to tell me the washing machine was on. When I got home and saw it draped around the house drying I thought "Fab! Two loads then, the airer must be full too!". I've just gone to check the airer and the dry clothes from yesterday are still on it. They were dry when I left this morning, I checked, and I thought that OH would have the gumption to remove it and fold it.
No.
It's only a little thing, especially compared to tiamai_d's unfortunate incident last week, but I've worked really hard this last fortnight to get things right in the house, with next to no help, and it feels like they can't even do the smallest thing to help me keep it going. I've gathered all the clothes up now, put the damp stuff on the airer and am putting the dry stuff away.
At least the beds made.o-* I will be Debt Free by Jan 2010 *-o
