Please post that in the Simply Fone thread here as it is off-topic in this thread.

two birds with one stone - let's ask them if they can put 0800 numbers on - good chance that Pre-dial 0200 number will get clobbered soon

If some people are wondering about these 0800 calls can they cancel, they 100% can. It happen before with 0800 datacalls once was free but now have to pay. (lot of people at the time used to use Onetel ISP and Orange on HSD. To make life easier for one person it was easier to argue that it make your bill more expensive if you had "indeed" used it. But in reality it make no difference the fact they "increase it" mean that it can increase your bill in the future. SMS aboard which is going up next month if I remember correctly can't cancel for cause it is not part of the standard contract, that is somewhere. But voice calls are.

Perhaps some one will let us know if they manage to cancel their contract early because of this increase, and if not why Orange refuse to do so!!!

  • Any furter news on the impending charging for these numbers - are there any Orange employees on the forum who can confirm the same???

Have i not already said in the OP, and later in this thread, that it is going to happen on the 1/12/05 and you will be told on your next bill. ;)

I do not make a habit of posting inaccurate info on this site.If you dont believe me, and you are a Orange Contract User, just Dial 150 for free, pick the billing option and ask them yourself.

No wonder some folks get  when they post genuine info, and it is doubted.

Will they also block that Pre-dial 0200 number I wonder?

It doesnt matter really does it? you will still be able to use 020 geographical access numbers out of your inclusive minutes.

Actually it may matter. If Orange detect that you are using an 02 number for onward dialling in order to avoid their standard charges, then they could put a voice message on informing you that "the number you are dialling is to a calling card service............", and they may levy a standard charge if you continue to dial. Though it may not be easy for them to do this, they possibly could. They certainly have done this in the past when they have seen certain 0800 numbers repeatedly appearing in the billing streams.

You are talking about using the Pre-Dial 02 mobile access number i presume.Yes Orange could put a charge on this, and they could start charging again for calls to 07744 ,anything is possible.

My point was if you used an 0800/0808 access like 1899,s you would not have to use the 0200 number because in most cases these suppliers now offer 020 geo alternatives.Again if they detected that they were cheap call access numbers they could probaly impose a charge. But the more 020 geo numbers being used lessens the odds of picking them up.

Sorry if my post was misleading.

Not sure what you're saying there PF.

My point is that Orange, by tariffing for 0800, are seeking to stop you from onward dialling at a lesser rate than you would have to pay them had you completed your call on their tariff. If they detect that you are able to do this very thing via an 02 number then they will seek to stop from doing so.
