We got the contract as calls to 0800 were free. If they change their tariff then it is indeed a clear breach of contract from their side and this should allow us to terminate the contract which I am intending on doing as soon as this starts. :mad:Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0

If they do it for "existing" contracts you will indeed be allow to cancel if you are on a tariffف already have 0800 for free. But to be double sure just make sure you make a couple of
0800 free calls now. the reason is cause it will put the increase pass the inflation rate
so under section 4 of your contract you can cancel early and keep the handset. This applies
even if you just today upgraded or just got a new phone on a new contract. The latter they try
and make you return it under the 14 day policy. But afaird you can tell them to get stuff.0 -
The relevant T&C relating to getting out of your contract are here sec 4.3 applies.

I know that calls to Freephone numbers are free on Orange contracts at the moment but i can see no where on their site which specifically covers this point. Can anyone else find anything?PF.0 -
I would not be surprised if Orange start charging for calling 0800 numbers. I am on the old Everyday50 contract and when I received last months bill there was a note stating that I would now be charged £1 a month for itemised billing. Previously I have had itemised billing free of charge. This was very annoying as T-Mobile did the same over a year ago, as well. I called Orange and have informed that I do not want the itemised billing. If they start charging for 0800 numbers, I think it will be time to change network provider.
The other new change from 1st November is that International Text Messages will increase from 15p to 19p!0 -

Glad to hear it cos its going to happen.
Spoke to Orange Billing they will be sending out details of this increase with the next batch of bills. They have been told the reason for the increase is to bring them in line with other networks!!!.The guy i spoke to said you cannot break your contract, because they are allowed to increase tariff prices subject to them giving reasonable notice. But he couldnt quote any chapter and verse to me.However if you look at the T&C sect 15.1 it does say if they increase charges you can terminate contract early.PF.0 -
If I am out of the 12 month contract period how much notice do I hav to give of cancellation?
Think its soon time to activate the O2 PAYG sim!No reliance should be placed on the above.0 -

From Orange T&C:
4.3 terminating your Contract because Orange has changed its terms
You may also terminate your Contract if we vary its terms, resulting in an excessive increase in the Charges or changes that alter your rights under this Contract to your detriment. In such cases you would need to give us at least 14 days written notice prior to your Billing Date (and within one month of us telling you about the changes). However this option does not apply if:
4.3.1 we have increased the Charges by an amount equal to or less than the percentage increase in the All Items Index of Retail Prices published by the Central Statistical Office in the Monthly Digest of Statistics in any 12 month period; or
Does anyone know what clause 4.3.1 means? :beer:Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0
