Now I shall stick my six penn'orth in now. If people choose to buy fake wedding dresses from China that is up to them but I do think that Fat Tulip is making a valid point.

Some of the comments made towards Fat Tulip have been vicious and uncalled for. People are entitled to their opinion and to give advice, if you don't want to listen then that's ok but there is no need to denigrate someone from Trading Standards who highlights a possible problem with an internet supplier.

I think you should all be ashamed of yourselves.

I'd like to differ, purely on the grounds that Fat Tulip came here to lie to people about the status of a business, which could easily have caused harm to that business or prevented people from buying from them on false grounds. I've no idea if s/he works for Trading Standards or not, but lying about a business is no way to legitimately air one's concerns about the morality of the regime of the country the business happens to be in.

I totally agree with the two above posts....Maybe you would feel differently had you been one of us who has a pending order with Landy, Horace?

I feel tulip should be the one feeling ashamed, no one else...

Just to add, My dress is from Landy, I am more than happy with the quality, sizing and everything else......

It also reflects badly on Trading Standards or consumer direct which is where the complaints would be directed to.

I work for a local authority as must this person and would have thought they would have a more sympathetic stance towards their "customers"

Working in close partnership with a Trading Standards department, I think my boss would be appalled if they were made aware of a member of T/S staff behaving in this way......not so much denigrating someone from T/S, more like making derogatory, inflammatory & possibly untrue comments about a company & it's country of location and bringing down the reputation of T/S staff & departments all over the country.

The phrasing did not imply a "possible problem", it stated things which may or may not be true. However, until someone knows exactly what is true, then maybe nobody should comment.

Also, there were inferred comments about "inside knowledge" of both HMRC and international courts.......I'm not entirely sure that this information would be forthcoming from T/S - certainly not until they had a firm case to answer (and I know that T/S work through the weekends, but I don't really think that a "story" like this would just appear on an internet forum (albeit a very nice forum ;)) over a weekend - it would be national press at least).

So ladies, I think that there is certainly some potential for Fat Tulip to be living under a bridge in a Grimm fairy-tale, waiting for the next billy goat to cross.........

Please accept my apologies folks for being taken in by Tulip - I have searched and searched on the Net and can find no report of Landy being sued by anyone for providing counterfeit goods.

The only article that I could find is that eBay was sued in the French courts by LVMH (louis vitton) for allowing counterfeit and genuine perfumes to be sold without a license.

It does seem rather strange that the posting coincided with an article that eppeared in the Sunday Express this week about a bridal shop in Hampshire that has gone bust to the tune of £200K. I guess that I was taken in by a troll - as floss says it is someone that lives under a bridge waiting for billy goat gruff.

I sincerely hope that you all get your dresses.

Meanwhile, when all your dresses arrive in high quality recycled bri-nylon, which you had to pay duty on at customs, and then need to take to the local seamstress because they are off-the-peg net curtains

Well mine arrived today, no duty to pay. Not opened it yet but had one delivered recently as well that was nowhere near the quality you describe, much better, as good as what I tried on in the bridal shops even! They're made to measure so why would we be taking them to a seamstress?

Whilst I agree that people should not lower themselves and be vicious. I do think that when you get an obvious troll on a forum board, it raises peoples hackles and pees people off to the extent that they want to say horrid things. There is no proof at all that this person is from where she says she is, in fact all her behavior shouts that it is an alias who is just out to bad mouth another company.
