    Thank you Kate and Paddington!

I've seen dresses on a UK site now and just not sure what to do. Will hold off for a bit as wedding in June and bm's are 5 & 9 now.

    ok update on previous post!

i have tried dress on that i like, its like this one from landy bridal http://www.landybridal.com/pic/071219173859.jpg

problem is i dont know the name of the designer of the dress i tried on in the shop, manager wouldnt tell me only when i payed the deposit,so i have serches round lots of sites and finally found one that looks like it.

i was a size 12 in the shop, need to lose a little weight though to fit it nice.so do i order a standard size 12 then tell her where i want beading etc,or does it come like it does on pics.

im so stuck on what to do,friends are telling me not to risk it if i dont like it.!!

also do i just contact a dressmaker or a seamstress for alterations?wouldnt dressmaker not want to alter a dress that she hasnt made?

sorry to ask so many question?!!
appreciate what you have got x
  • measure yourself against her size chart and order the nearest size to your measurements as I think her sizes are US ones.

I didn't have to have my dress altered but I know some of the others have done. I took my BM dress to be altered by a dressmaker and she didn't say anything about not having made it. Make sure you get a quote first.
Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended :p
  • I was wondering if anyone had bought the swatch book from landy and would like to sell it on as i need to make a desicion about my dress soon and dont really want to wait until they send one from china.

    Thanks in advance

  • I was very sceptical when ordering my dress from Landy after trying to research it on the internet. I could find 50/50 reviews on wedding dresses from China, etc. On listening to the advice of my friend that works for Virgin, she told me about the fantastic made to measure clothes she picks up from there when she has overnight stays. The price was only £160 so I figured that it wasn't too much of a gamble as I'd still have plenty of time to buy a dress if it turned out to be a disaster. I was delighted when it came 2 weeks earlier than the quoted time. Its heavy, good quality, looks just like the picture and fits perfectly. I would recommend that anyone on a budget takes the chance and orders from there. If you're not happy with it Im sure you would be able to sell it on.
