I agree about them starting to look the same.
The style I liked is Style 2021. The pics on the website really don't do it justice. The beading and embroidery work is really lovely and that is what does the work on the dress. You really can't see how special it is in the photos. And the cut was amazing, it was really flattering.
It's £187 over my initial fag packet budget - not including alterations and hoop (which I will get from eBay).
But I've made about £40 selling stuff on eBay so far, and I probably have some more stuff to sell. Who thought anyone would want old Number One magazines from the 1980s? All those £0.45s are starting to add up!0 -
I don't know if this is going to help at all but here goes. I know Alfred Angelo along with other designers do dresses now with different colours and it might be worth having a look at their website:
http://www.alfredangelounitedkingdom.com/Collections/DisplayCollection.aspx?categoryId=0E1DBAFC-84DF-4FA0-9452-3DD8AF69FDFD&referrer=callout_dreamincolour
also although it's not the same http://www.alisonevansbridalwear.co.uk/Default.aspx?tabid=66&img=45121.jpg#image
Also (although it depends on the dress) you might not need to buy a hoop. I tried on what will be my dress and the lady in the bridal shop said usually you don't need to buy a hoop.

They gave me a hoop to try the dress on with, but never implied that one would be included.
I actually went into the shop to try on the Alfred Angelo dresses, but I didn't like them on.
Like I said, I'll keep an open mind for the time being.
Thanks for all the advice.0 -
Hi
does anyone have any more info about this company please? My darling daughter in law is hoping to purchase one of their dresses (has not ordered it yet).
Nannis - did you receive your bridesmaids dresses ok? I could be too late (you may be on honeymoon) you were getting married on 6 Sept - congratulations Mrs Nannis!!!
Many thanks0 -
You can either read your way through the ebay dresses thread which has pics of several dresses from Landy including mine or if you look here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1140535
this thread has pics of my dress on the day. Nannis did receive her bridesmaids dresses and was very happy with them. K8te has also posted pics of her dress on a thread now a Ms with pics.
The dresses are different from the originals usually in the embroidery and embellishment details but I far preferred mine to the original which I can post pics of as well if you wish. I bought mine with the idea that I had ordered early so could replace it if necessary but the fit was fantastic and I didnt have to pay extra to have it shortened. The only people who haven't been as pleased with their dresses are those who fell madly in love with the original.
I had loads of compliments about my dress on the day even from complete strangers in the hotel and I got quite embarrassed as I knew how little it cost.Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended

Hi Spendless,
My dress came from Landy & I was delighted with it. Just like Padingtondoo it was perfectly made for me (the only downside being the size of the heels I thought I'd be able to wear all day, but this was my fault not theirs).
If you'd like me to send you some pics let me know.
Love

ps Nannis's dress was beautiful too - reading what the others wrote about getting their dresses from abroad inspired me to give it a go! That and the fact that I worked out it would work out to be the best part of £200 per hour for a dress I'd only wear once. I decided that I couldn't justify that0 -

Ooooh I'm so excited! Went trying dresses on for the first time yesterday - went to a posh place and a cheaper place. Fell in love with a Maggie Sottero Lara - beautiful satin and beading and simple a line shape. Then I found out it was £800!!
This morning I have found the copy on Landy for 190 euros - to say I'm thrilled is an under statement! I know there may be some small cosmetic differences but it was the style I fell for, not the designer label.
Just trying to find some bridesmaids dresses on there now and then I will place an order. Has anyone gone for made to measure or is it easier to just pick the nearest size and have the dress tweaked when it arrives?0 -
My and both my bridesmaids were made to measure, one of bridesmaids was way to big...but she was adding inches here and there "just in case!"Mrs Storey

I was lucky enough to be a standard size but I chose a lace up back. The only thing I had made to measure was the length and asked Landy to allow an extra bit for a hoop.
It fitted perfectly although I was surprised how heavy it was for the money.Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended
