Natwest and CPP scam

I got my natwest credit card statement and saw that I had been billed £36.99 for a card protection policy (cpp) which I did not accept or authorise.
So I phoned up the stolen card dept and said someone had stolen that money by using my natwest credit card details.
They said they would cancel my credit card and send me a new one and tried to transfer me to the natwest card protection dept (who were the people who stole the money) so that I could cancel the CPP and get a refund.
I said no I don't want to speak to them and that if someone steals my card details from a shop then I shouldn't have to go back to the shop and say please refund the money you stole from my credit card!
In the end after a lot of arguments and different depts they transferred me to their credit card fraud dept.
I said some had stolen that money from my credit card and i want them sacked or prosecuted... they gave a nervous laugh and said they would investigate the case and refund me the £36.99, but couldn't give me an update of what would happen with the fraud case
Beware and check your statements.
I still haven't been refunded by CPP and have now been charged interest on my new credit card, cpp spelt my name totally wrong when they fraudulently took out card protection on my behalf, and stole the money from my account.
Natwest says it is nothing to do with them and to speak to cpp, and cpp are saying it is over the grace period and to write in so they can investigate with natwest and go through the tape recordings!
I know I definetely said no I don't want cpp as I said no last time... how are they allowed to get away with this.
help I am getting nowhere but to the land of frustration.0 -
no they dont need permission to sent things through the post... and i think its fair enough if you dont actually agree to having the card protection but i must say this is only a minority of people who have had a bad experience with cpp. I've been with them for 3 years i took out the 3year cover at £85 i had my hanbag stolen an i gave them a FREE call an they were so helpful they cancelled all my cards got a registered locksmith out to me within an hour to get me back in my house covered the costs to replace my driving licence and the cash that was in my handbag. asked me whether i was stranded away from home and whether id need any emergency cash. they were brilliant my moblie was in my handbag aswell and because im on contract and whoever had robbed my bag had decided to call people off my phone at the end of the call they put me straight through to my network provider (who by the way i would of not known there number and wouldn of been able to get back in my house to find any numbers i.e banks, phne companines etc) who barred my phone and cpp covered the costs of the unauthorised use. i've got to say i took it out for the peace of mind to begin with an wasnt sure if id renew it but i definately will. all that didnt cost me a penny not even the phone call if id of claimed on my house insurance i would of had to of paid an excess an they wouldnt of been able to cancel my cards or anything. i think there efficient and so helpful when u actually need them in that sitution i was crying i didnt know what was going to happen but thankfully the lady on the other end of the phone was brilliant... so i'd like to say thanks to cpp for being there when i needed the help.. it think thats what people forget you take out insurance incase something does happen and when it does your so glad youve got it.0

You all seem to moan but i know when i went through the selling process they asked me 3 times whether i was happy for the insurance to be put into place then got the manager on to ask me again then confirmed the price i was paying and what card it would be put on. i didnt haveany problems with them at all i dont know whether all of the agents are like the young girl i spoke to but she was very pleasent and explained everything i needed to know on the phone call everything was clarified in writing and they said if i had a problem i had 21days from the phone call iv benn with them 3 years now made a claim which was also dealt with efficiently and to a very high standard.0

Moneyjade even the banks admit there are often problems with CPP's selling of these policies. Perhaps your bosses didn't cover this when they briefed you. Unfortunately when a new member joins and posts 4 times within a couple of hours all praising a company previously being criticised many members on here will be sceptical of your posts.0

Moneyjade, judging by your other posts, you obviously work for CPP. Are you aware that you are breaching the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Practices by posting on a website as a satisfied customer when you are connected to a company.
Your bosses are having enough problems at the moment without the hassle of this.
Do you have any comments on these ?

Hi Everyone,
I have just had £89.99 taken from my account by CPP! I've just found this forum and I'm shocked at how many people have been affected :-s
I emailed CPP on Friday, they responded saying that they could not find me on their system and to send them my address and previous addresses. They then responded again with a policy number, an address from 9 years ago and my maiden name!! Apparently I have had an account with them since 2002, but i've just checked my bank statement I have never had a payment to them before.
I don't ever remember signing up for this and not sure what the outcome from my last email will be but i'm not happy at all.
If anyone's got any advise on how I can get a refund please do let me know
Thanks,
Steph0 -
Realising now that Natwest is complicit in this scam I go to the branch where my mothers account is and speak with an assistant manager (manager out to lunch) who basically tells me it is all above board and that there is nothing that can be done about it.
This saga has left me feeling exceedingly angry, and also bewildered that something like this can be happening in what is supposed to be a highly regulated market with a supposedly high degree of consumer protection.
This is garbage, there was no agreement made so what the bank manager says is irrelevant.
Simple answer, everyone sack off Natwest.0 -
I was just going through my direct debits for the first time in a couple of years and deleting those that were either defunct or that are paying for services I no longer need.
On 4th August 2010, CPP Ltd took £69 from my account and I have no idea why; a google search brought up this thread. I've tried calling CPP but due to long waiting times I've sent them a message from their website complaints form demanding a call back.
I bank with HSBC and have a mortgage with Santander. I guess though that I'm not protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee after a whole year???
Has anyone contact BBC Watchdog about this? Sounds like they'd have a field day.0
