I refuse to scrimp on the following:
Douwe Egberts Pure Gold coffee - (tend to buy it when on offer in Tescos and will stock up)
Dermalogical facial creams (still treat myself to a facial once every so often - they cost £40 a time:eek: )
Easy Living Magazine (£2.80 per month)
My car - it is serviced regularly and I buy decent tyres for it
Campo Largo Baked Beans from Lidl are a good alternative for Heinz0 -

Now I have read a few more posts, I've come to the conclusion that I'm a lot pickier than I thought!
Tyres, I take the tyre company's advice - usually manage to get the branded ones for the same price as the cheapies that way
Oil - I go to the local oil depot and buy it there = branded cheaper than even from the motor factors!
Underwear - one brand, but I get it for birthday and Christmas presents.
Tea - Earl Grey, but will buy various types on offer
Eggs - ONLY Free Range
I do refuse to buy anything with soya in it - and I do read the labels - unless it's organic, thus GM free.
I'll probably think of more as I go alongIf you see me on here - shout at me to get off and go and get something useful done!!

Actually I fibbed on mine, there's way more than three things I won't compromise on....!
Douwe Egberts coffee / fresh coffee
Colgate toothpaste
Decent loo roll
Free range eggs
Decent meat - hate thought of supporting appalling animal living conditions
Nice bread
Ecover Washing powder so I don't itch
Dermalogica so am not allergic
The Sunday Times - lasts me all week
lurpack butter
I lived in France for a long time where decent quality food items which you use on a daily basis are not seen as luxuries. They are simply necessitites, yet other items are happily saved on. So a meal of decent bread, butter and cheese and a good coffee are seen as as satisfying as a more fancy dish.
Yet I'll happily buy value tins, pasta, rice, other own brand items and am obsessive at looknig for yellow stickered items. The girl at the checkout must think I have a split personality!
Memo to self; I do not need more shoes....::rotfl:0 -
I always get my kids whatever they want, some people call it spoiling, I don't care I see it as my job. They like Aero hot choc, andrex loo roll, dorset cereals, andrew collinge hair stuff and bench clothing, I will never say no to them because they are not greedy and don't ask for too much.

Have nothing in your homes that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful (sell it instead)0 -
Got to say there is nothing material I cannot do without.
Of course I will sometimes choose to have the nicer brand or a wee treat, but lets face it, I am hardly going to meet a horrible end just because I don't have it  !
I would never buy cheap mince, if I could not afford the local stuff I would either remove something less important from trolley or eat something else instead.
I don't buy into the expensive toiletries thing either- what a complete waste of money unless you have something wrong with your skin and need a specific product (which is a different matter altogether).
PS I agree with the poster who mentioned the Lidl Campo Largo beans- they are pretty nice indeed. Esp with some homemade bread.....mmmmmmmmm :T .

You never ever ever ever say no to your kids ? Surely they have to realise that sometimes the answer is actually no, however much you want it to be yes ?I always get my kids whatever they want, some people call it spoiling, I don't care I see it as my job. They like Aero hot choc, andrex loo roll, dorset cereals, andrew collinge hair stuff and bench clothing, I will never say no to them because they are not greedy and don't ask for too much.
I am not being critical of you but it cannot be possible to say yes all the time, even if you are a millionare who can work wonders!

I can see where you are coming from, if you get value/own brand/reduced on some stuff then you can afford to get better versions of other stuff. It is just as prices increase then we might have a higher % value stuff in our trolley and maybe have our treats less ?petite_anglaise wrote: »Actually I fibbed on mine, there's way more than three things I won't compromise on....!
