Ooops, just worked out another one
Meat - free range and well fed/housed etc only. I am fortunate in that I buy halves of lamb and quarters of beef, pig by the joint and FR chickens from farms I know. Fish, don't buy any fish not on the Good Fish list and only from local fishmonger.
Fussy lot, aren't we?!
I wonder how fussy we'd be if we really were up against it?If you see me on here - shout at me to get off and go and get something useful done!!

I wont compromise on my eyes. I wear disposable contact lenses, and have just upgraded to an even thinner, higher water content better comfort style lense, more money a month, but I don't smoke, rarely drink, and buy lots of my clothes from charity shops, so I reckon I can splash out on my eyes. The monthly cost includes all eye-sight tests too, so I am keeping a check on my eye health too.keep smiling,

Also, diet coke, only proper coca cola will do.
Are you me?

I'm just considering switching away from free range eggs - it is the one thing I have always said I wouldn't do, so haven't made up my mind but things are so tight I already don't buy cheap chickens, said I would rather have one once every few months rather than more regularly if it meant increaded quality of life, but I live a more or less vege existance anyway already and can't believe the price of eggs these days! However, my morals are still keeping me swaying towards free range so that would probably be my "one" thing.
I have switched down brands on more or less everything else, and cut down the things I can't. i suppose Tia Maria is my 2nd - I remember trying a cheapo Tia Maria - its still on the shelf, it was YUCK!!0 -
I refuse to get rid of SKY - we have a low package so it's £18 a month - it keeps all of the family entertained.
Food wise - Nescafe Gold Blend Coffee - tried all the alternatives and nothing can do it.
We are happy to try the alternatives for all other things though and we now always buy cheap beans after years of refusing to eat anything that was not Heinz.
Trying out lower brands certainly works for us - we have swapped quite a few things after trying the cheapie version. It's not paranoia if they really are after you.0 -
I refuse to get rid of Sky too, I'm on the most basic package but I've given up the gossip magazines so I decided to keep Sky (I love Sky One and Bravo).
I hate really cheap anti-perspirant. Doesn't work for me so I stick to Dove, Sanex or Mum and buy it when on offer and stock up.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. I too adore Gold Blend, but have recently been converted to Asda's own version - "Gold Roast" - currently £2.00 for 200gr, which is almost £1.00 cheaper than 100gr of Gold Blend
It's a very good alternative - okay, it's not AS nice as Gold Blend, but it's very good all the same. I'm converted anyway
We too have been happily trying cheaper alternatives a lot lately. H is very fussy though and won't compromise on: heinz sauces, salad cream and beans, tuna (must be john west) and orange juice (must be tropicana, but he's agreed to try a cheaper one this week - that's big of him eh? ).
For me, there's not a lot I won't compromise on but diet cherry coke is one thing
No-one even DOES a cheapy version or I'd be happy to give it a go. You can't control everything in life....... your hair was put on your head to remind you of that

Foodwise our kitchen is a sea of green Asda Smartprice labels. If they don't have a smart-price version, I ain't happy!!
But we always buy free range eggs, Lush bathroom stuff, OH has to have 2 cases of coke a week and Ainsleys cous cous.
Has anyone with fussy OH's tried the old trick of replacing the cheaper stuff in the expensive packets and seeing if they notice? This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!
