Regular readers will be aware that the Mail on Sunday newspaper gives away a free CD or DVD movie just about every week.

If you are at the cinema at the moment you can get a free Mail on Sunday magazine in the foyer which contains tokens giving you 50p off the price of the newspaper every week from now until the end of October.

Hi Quoia,

I work in a cinema.

Yes, at the present time there is a promotion going on with the Daily Mail on Sunday.

This comprises of an advert just after the Carlton exit on the main adverts promoting the Magazines that are in the Sunday paper.

There are two Special Cinema editions of the magazines that usually come in the paper on sunday, one the Living mag for the guys and other the You mag for the girls. These are being given away.

I picked up a copy of the guys one and there is indeed 16 coupons for 50p valid until end of October 2007, off the Mail on Sunday in this copy of the magazine.

I would assume there is the same in the You edition.

In my cinema they where two people giving them out last weekend. Another pallet arrived during the week, so I think they will be giving them out again this weekend.

I think they are then left in the foyer for people to pick up during the week. They are at my cinema.

I am not sure if this is countrywide or selected regonal areas. I know of one cinema in my chain which are local to us, that is not envolved in this promotion.

This offer may not be available in other cinema chains. Mine is very 'Fanatical'

I know one thing I will be having cheap a cheap sunday paper for the next 5 months!!

I posted this earlier on a magazine thread where these had been noticed in an Odeon about a week ago.
It ties in with most of what you've said

..... I tried my local Odeon who had never heard of let alone seen any of these.
I phoned the Daily Mail circulation/promotion/advertising dept to enquire about them. Asked was it regional, in various businesses locations, just cinemas, just Odeons, etc ?

APPARENTLY .....

There is an advert for the Sunday Mail (poss Daily) being shown just on the screenings of Pirate of the Caribean.
The YOU & LIVE mags should ONLY be handed out AFTER you have actually seen the film PotC and presumably the advert. Other cinema goers should NOT have access to them.
This IS NOT every day of the week - should ONLY be on a Friday or Saturday (possibly just evenings even) - not sure if the advert is screened at other times or days.

AND this is ONLY available at ODEON cinemas !
It did occur to me that these might be given out by special promotional staff not employed by Odeon.
