Derv - I wouldn't get anywhere if I didn't realize where the debts were coming from, thank you, your advice is helpful and so is just talking to someone;)Debt free by Dec 2011

thanks Derv, interesting to chat, and you are right about the whole if you didn't have debts you 'd have more money to spend thing.
it is about focus, I am slowly coming round to the idea that 'debt busting' has to be the number one thing.
hmmmm. off to think some more.

I have added a signature in the hope that seeing the debts reduce on it will make me feel like they are going down!

Some of those interest rates are a bit nasty. It`s obvious, but make sure you pay as much off the cards with the higher rates (for example, the Cap 1 card looks a bit expensive) and the least on the 0% card. Did that bottle of whisky go on the 0% card ? As I said before, that money spent on the whisky could have paid extra off the Cap 1 card.30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. Whiskey was paid from this weeks cash fund.
Capital one is very high yes, DH has just got a Barclaycard with 0% balance transfer with an £800 limit, trying to persuade/bully him into transferring as much of the cap one as possible.
I think he wants to do what you do - i.e. spend on the card so we leave the money in the bank as this card has a cash back of 4% on it. And yes I have pointed out that it is better to save 30% in interest than gain 4% in cash back. Also whenever we have tried to do we have ended up just running up the card instead. We were doing this with Vanquis and then ran it to £850 (honestly I don't even know what on!) and transfered it to Virgin on 15month 0%.Debt free by Dec 2011

No need for me to comment !
Sounds like you aren`t far from clearing your debt, you realise the problem and you know what needs to be done. It`s just the "doing" bit that is hard.30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. Equity : Don't know, don't care much. Savings : That's asking for ridicule.0 -
OMG the snowball calculator did the trick! When he saw how much in interest we could save by paying a bit more and moving the most expensive debt to 0% he was amazed. He handed me all of the cards and has promised to ring and get as much of the capital one as possible on to his 0% bcard!

An update - transfered £700 from capital one to DH barclaycard at 0% for a charge of £17 (less than a months interest)
On a not so good point DH bet £80 online in the middle of the night - thankfully he won £100 - which he then spent on food and booze. He only told me cos he thought I might wonder where the food had come from, I think he needs more training!Debt free by Dec 2011
