some more tips for postals:
use address labels as these save a lot of time when writing out lots of postcards and saves getting sore hands
remember to write clearly as messy writing or rushed writing will be ignored and you wil have lost a chance of winning
read the rules on the competition, if it aks for address, tel no, email etc then this is what you have to put on
main one of course is get the spelling right, common mistake to make, look and re check to make sure everything is correct
To stop postcards getting returned put your telephone number below the postcode, this is the system i use and have never had a postcard returned to me yet
hopefully that will help people, what you have already is great vg:D0 -
In the postcards bit you have something along the lines of buy from WHSmiths to get reward points, WHSmiths have actually STOPPED the reward card now. Sainburys & Superdrug do 5% off stamps sometimes but it's not advertised a lot tbh. HTH2023 wins - Rice Krispies, Avene Micellar Gel, Barbie Toy, £20 Apple Gift Card, KFC 6 piece bargain bucket, Chloe Nomade perfume, Barbie Toy (second one), Sanctuary Spa Sleep Balm, E45 Moisturising Lotion, Trolls Hamper, 12 Tonie Characters, Sure deodorant, Good Home Utensil holder, £5 Costa Gift Card, Neutrogena Micellar Jelly, Soap & Glory Mascara, Persil capsules,0

There's Fireform which is okay if you keep telling it to "learn this page"
Also Sxipper (??) which I've downloaded and tried out but temporarily dismantled because it felt as if I was having to spend a lot of time answering its questions.
You are supposed to be able to download Roboform for FF and I've tried but not been able to install it.0 -

I'm presuming it's okay to post a friends competition that he has on his site? He only wants people to enter via his site though - again is that okay? Do I just add "please don't post competition details" on this site?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Alan0 -
Hi Alan, sorry you've not had a response on your question quicker. I'm guessing there is more footfall on the Discussions Thread than in here & I've been stupidly busy at work this week!
The site rules are against self promotion, so I can't personally see anything wrong with you posting a comp that a friend has on their site - as long as it is someone elses competition & not your own (we have some very astute detectives that manage to catch other less scrupulous people out!) then I can't really see a problem with it
In respect of your friend wanting people to visit the site for the competition & not having answers/details posted on here then you are quite right. When you post just put something very clearly on the bottom of the post like "Please do NOT post details / answer for this comp on here at the request of the website" & other compers should respect that
If your friend is going to have regular competitions then I could always add it to the list in the Comping Guide in the Posting Comps section, 4 Do any sites not want their comps/answers posted? Do let me know if that is the case & I can add them
Hope this answers your question!Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out0 -
Hi Velvet. Apologies if this is not the correct place to ask, but after following your fascinating guide, I have dowloaded firefox "snaplinks". The problem is, however, I am not really too sure how it works. I was under the impression that you kind of "circled" the links that you wanted to open and then they all opened up, in a kind of chain ?? Or does each one just open up another window, as it would normally anyway??
Any advice whatsoever would be appreciated .0 -

Hi, it opens them up in seperate tabs rather than windows - meaning youcan see the heading on each one. Just hold down the right button of your mouse, and drag it over the links you want to open - a green dotted line will appear round the links, and the ones it's opening get a red box round them.
Eg - I tend to comp by sorting the forum into thread start time order, which will exclude any bumped threads since I last visited, then I use snaplinks to open pages 1-11 and go to the last page to see if that covers the last time I was on (forum is so busy now that I sometimes need 12 or 13 pages for the last 24 hours - used to be 6 or 7 )
That way I know that as I work through each page I'm not missing any comps as more are added to the first page. Without snaplinks, if I did page 1 then page 2 etc some would get missed or duplicated. Not sure that made much sense, but hopefully it will help a bit!Al Mac Appreciation Society (AMAS) member # 6½
