I was offered computer desk once. I talked to the poster on phone a few times to arrange the time to pick up. She was extremely nice. BUTTTTT.....when I went to take it the house isnt exist. I called up that person many times but no answer. Waste of my time!!!!!
What is she doing this for??? messing around with people???
  • Given: breadmaker; laminate flooring; microwave; desk; toddler bed; portapotty (unused!); fishtank; fishtank heater (collected by a lady in a brand new Porsche - how the rich stay rich...) fireguards; 3 internal doors and am awaiting a collector of baby stuff this morning.

Received: fishtank (which I put back on Freecycle when I found a larger tank on ebay); exercise bike; lovely antique furniture; books.

I must agree that the rude demanding emails are somewhat surprising when people are basically getting something for nothing. Some people (the minority fortunately) are even rude when they collect.

The best freecyclers are those who are genuinely shocked that they are getting what they want for NOTHING!!!! A few people who've picked stuff up from me (the laminate flooring and toddler bed offers stand out) have literally danced a jig!

I also tend to put a time limit on offers as people often don't turn up: even worse are those who do turn up and then say they don't want the item (because they haven't read the listing properly) - I've only had this happen once though.

At the moment I also have someone emailing me every couple of days for a fishtank offered 4 months ago that was taken at the time. I'm reluctant to email back as it may be some kind of scam.

Reading through the posts, I see some of you have problems with other 'cyclers.
The posts are moderated so please ask your Moderator to remind people to behave....that's what we are there for. A simple please and thank you (or lack of) is often all that is needed to change the day.
For the rest of you, i'm glad Freecycle has been / is a great place to be.

If the world were full of 'cyclers it would be a better place....glad you're one of them.
    Happy 'cycling!!

Move their email to your spam box, which is where it will hopefully go in future, or if your email has it, block that address, so you will never know they sent you anything. :D

    lots and lots!

    Given
Microwave, Chest of drawers, ironing board & iron, 6 x 5ft plants, Wardrobes, Garden bridge, lots of garden plants, rosebushes etc, garden tools forks etc. Curtains, photoframes, books, jigsaws, cocktail fountain, 1x single bed, laundrydriers, bedroom carpet.:D

    Received
breadmaker, broken hover, loft insulation, lawnmower, food juicer, fridgefreezer, 7ft Yucca, portable tv, freeviewbox, chocolate fountain, standard lamp base, coffee table, wardrobes, wallpaper steamer, 2x single bed (my first was really badly damanged but i didn't have the courage to refuse it when i went to collect so it went to the dump, the second a wonderfully great quality and still in use years later), pcscanner, craft items, kitchen stool, winerack.:o

    Received, used & given again.
Dinning room table, 1x single bed

I'm sure there's more as i've been using freecycle for years, but writting it all down makes me realise all over again how wonderfull it is.
Re other problem free-cyclers, my biggest problem was when I moved house, they didnt' care how much i'd given on another freecycle they wouldn't let me post wanted untill i'd given something to the local area which I felt missed the 'cycling' point. And occasionally 'cyclers' (usually those offering v small/broken/poor quality goods) being a bit nasty when i've asked for more information on the item. But those offering the larger/better quality/wonderfull items have gone above and beyond to help us carry or tie to the car etc & have met lots of realy really lovely people.
Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.

I recently gave away a wardrobe, chest of draws, two bed side cabnets and 4 dining chairs.

I've had recently a heater/lamp in one, some cook books and a kind lady is lending me a car seat for when my cousin visits. Oh an I got some wooden ski's that was a random one I posted a wanted on the off chance!

The guys that came to get the bed turned out to be some old friends from uni I haven't seen in 2 years so that was cool!
