Just made a yummy lunch with my newly acquired soya flour.
Made one pancake and filled it with mushrooms sauteed in butter with garlic and tarragon. Into gratin dish, covered it with cheese sauce and Parmesan and into oven till golden and bubbling.
Am eating it now and it's lovely.0 -

Missed one on freecycle on the very day i didnt sign in..
would rather get from amazon cos of their faulty returns policy,
read lots of reviews and the cheaper ones dont seem to hold up and i am quite a big lump:rotfl: (not for long eh)
Watching couple local ones on ebay as i thought a cheap one incase i dont use it.. but seem to be effective if you do. Am considering stretching to a good one but usually take ages to decide as i read read read before i buy.
Thanks for the input.0 -
I'm the same. Sadly I don't think there's anything low carb about Baileys
If there was we'd have heard by now and I for one would be permenantly pi$$d

Shy posted a recipe for home-made low-carb 'Baileys' a while ago. I'm not keen on Baileys so I haven't tried it.
Thanx for finding that HC will certainly give it a try as a treat sometime. Its seems to me that you can almost find a lc sub for almost anything. :jStarted Atkins 22/02/09 - total weightloss 11lbs:j0 -

Thank you for this - lots and lots! Its wonderful - even OH loves it so I'll have to make double next time.
I made it Sunday and didn't spread the chillis out very evenly so yesterday's square was a bit bland whilst the day before I nearly blew my head off!
Used up all the cheddar in the house so need to buy more today then plan to make a whopping batch tomorrow.
oops didn't mean to post to this old thread!
Has anyone tried cooking then freezing?0 -
In this month's issue of Healthy we look at whether saturated fat is really that bad for your health.
We want to know what you think:
Recent studies have shown that saturated fat can actually be good for you - its reputation is undeserved.
Saturated fat is high in calories and cholesterol so can contribute to obesity and heart disease. We shouldn’t be encouraging people to eat more fat with the country’s current obesity problems.
Currently about 48% of voters think Saturated fat is good for you
and 52% think it must be bad.
I hope some of the folks here will have studied the
evidence I've linked to several times
and watched theBig Fat lies clip so will know the truth and be able to redress the balance somewhat.

i would really like to make this chocolate almond recipe
CHOCOLATE ALMOND BAR
1/2 ounce unsweetened chocolate
2 tablespoons butter
1 ounce almonds, finely ground *
1 teaspoon cream, optional
4 teaspoons granular Splenda
2 ounces almonds, finely chopped
1/8 teaspoon vanilla
1/8 teaspoon almond extract
Melt the chocolate and butter in the microwave on MEDIUM power. Blend well. Stir in the remaining ingredients. Spread to about a 1/4-inch thick rectangle on a foil-lined pan. Freeze 2 hours or more. Remove from the foil and cut into 40-48 tiny pieces. Keep and eat frozen.
Makes 40-48 pieces
Can be frozen
*I ground them, almost like peanut butter, in a mini food processor with a few drops of oil. Per 2 pieces: 33 Calories; 3g Fat; 1g Protein; 1g Carbohydrate; trace Dietary Fiber; 1g Net Carbs
but i havent brought any legal low carb chocolate since ive started on this diet. So can anyone reccommend a good brand of chocolate that is unsweetened or are all dark 80% chocolate unsweetened. Im not a dark choc fan but if its chocolate subsitute will give it a go0 -
focus...you're in the wrong place.

i generally eat low carb quite a lot by default -- theres an interesting forum on this here: http://www.diabetes.co.uk/diabetes-forum/viewforum.php?f=18
It's aimed more at people with diabetes, but it's quite useful as there's a lot of people here who have lost a LOT of weight by not totally removing carbs, just avoiding really obvious stuff.
