Low Carb Diet (atkins)

Ok I am officially depressed and as such....I bought an Atkins bar and have just scoffed it. Not the end of the world but a bit annoying as I wasn't going to buy anymore of them.
I've been growing out a horrible permanent hair colour and it's taken me forever. I've got loads of grey now so it's not been a good look and it makes me feel old. I've only got the old colour at the ends now and it's hardly noticeable so I'm ready to dye it again and I'm after just a bog standard brown hair dye.
Can I get one? Can I heck! You can have......lightest brown/light brown/brown/capri brown/golden brown/ light ash brown/medium ash brown/and some other weird and wonderful names that basically just mean brown. Light brown is either too light or has warm undertones that I dont want and medium brown is too dark.
I came home dyeless, still grey and with an Atkins Bar.

Aw hunni sounds awful! And you're likely to get the runs later
Too much choice just complicates life. How many carbs in an atkins bar? (I've never seen any)
Made these at weekend, nice but filling and pleasant with double cream.
Coconut muffins
Ingredients:
2 eggs
25g butter
2 tablespoons Splenda
50g cup soy powder /almond flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 pint heavy cream
50g unsweetened coconut
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
Place all ingredients in blender at one time and blend until mixed together. Mine went very thick.
Place into 6 buttered muffin tins
Bake in a 180-degree oven for about 30 mins
Works out about 3.5 g carb per bun. (using almond flour)
Were better cold the day after. Didn't put em in tin or fridge, just let em firm up a bit. Still have one left for supper with cream

Oh they sound flipping good Mercy. I would not be able to have only one though. My eating habits have changed a lot but year and years of not stopping at one thing cant be changed in a few weeks. So I'll just drool from a distance I think.
Atkins bar has 2.2g carb btw. The carb count is low but it's enough to stall me (again  ).Herman - MP for all!0 -

I know what you mean, I had two while they were still warm. Felt incredibly stuffed after and had to call em lunch as I couldn't manage anything else
I have to say that they are the closest to a 'real' cake I've made using low carb techniques. Mostly the results are disappointing but not this time.

Oh mazzers, that lasagne looks bloomin lovely!! Will definitely be trying it.
Ditto the sound of Mercy's coconut muffins!!
I wasn't hungry before but I am now!!
Mercy, what's unsweetened coconut? Is it like desiccated? I am sooooo gonna try them!! I'm presuming I can use muffin cake cases instead of buttering the tin?
alias, LOL at the grey hair!! Me too!! Keep getting side glances off eldest daughter every time a hair dye advert comes on tv, especially if they mention covering grey!! :rotfl: I'm thinking of going lighter but would be a hairdresser job as I'm not brave enough to attempt it myself!!
Btw I wouldn't worry too much about the atkins bar, it could have been [STRIKE]a creme egg[/STRIKE] a lot worse!!
kissit, well done on becoming 'ideal'!! My wii fit has died, or at least the remote has, so not been on it for ages. Quite fancy being 'skinny' myself but that wouldn't be for a long, long time, if ever!!0 -

Hi hun
I 'buttered' my muffin tin but I don't think they needed it, so I'm sure they'l be fine in cases. I'm going to try em as buns for taking to Mums on Sunday. That was the only reason I tried em, gotta make sure they work before important plans come into placeFeel confident they'l make good buns though :rotfl: My mixture made a thick paste, not sure if the cream curdled but it worked well so not bothered
Unsweetened coconut is normally on the shelf next to 'sweetened' both dessicated but watch out for the added sugar and get the good one. Were well sweet enough as it was
As to grey hair, I'm deciding at mo whether to dye mine before hols, got a nice silvery thing goin on at front right so dunno if to leave it for a bit. (normally use dark brown as I have been told that's my natural shade)
Also looking at the cherry black one advertised on telly, depends if it's a temporary one as I wont use a permenant, don't like 're-growth' :rotfl:

I loathe coconut, which is a shame as otherwise I'd definitely try that recipe.
I made pancakes (from Dr A's New Diet Revolution book) today with soya flour. They were great - as near as dammit to normal pancakes. So I can use soya flour to make Yorkshire puddings, pastry, cakes...:j:j:j I think I'm getting a bit carried away, as it's still 19 per cent carb. But it makes a change from those horrid ground almonds.

Hiya shelby
That's the beauty of the tried n tested recipes, they're tried n tested! You can't nick anything given for freeI'm a natural chemist with a good background in research n development so I just can't help experimenting
Good to have pointers though :rotfl: And cooking makes a nice difference from paint :rotfl:
I can do the carb count but need weights, have never weighed a courgette! Looks lovely though, doesn't it?
(meant the lasagne, tho courgettes can be attractive :rotfl:)
