  • One of the first steps in creating that mental shift necessary for natural weight loss is to open your eyes to the power of real, whole food ingredients that have been concentrated into easy to mix formulas. These kinds of low carb foods are not typically sold in stores, but you will easily uncover them on the Internet. NuPlus is an example of a product that packs powerful nutrition into fewer calories.

    Oh, I am, I am. :D

Badger, hope your tummy is feeling better. :(

I'm trying out some new recipes this week, as I felt I was starting to eat the same things over and over again!

    Yesterday:

    B: none
L: lamb chops and blue cheesy leeks
D: mushroom soup*, sausages and courgettes Parmesan (from Rose Elliot)

The mushroom soup (from the IPD cookbook) was spectacular! Both DD and I independently thought that it looked and tasted identical to the Covent Garden one. I'm going to have to force the recipe on you all, and urge you to make it - if you like mushrooms, of course!

    Mushroom Soup (serves 4)

    4-6 dried wild mushrooms
    splash of oil
    50g butter
    1 medium onion, diced
    250g mushrooms
1 litre vegetable or chicken stock
1 teaspoon dried tarragon (I used thyme as I didn't have any tarragon)
    30ml dry sherry (optional)
    s&p
    double cream

Soak dried mushrooms in boiling water for 20 mins. Drain and reserve liquid.

Heat oil and butter, and fry onion. Add mushrooms and stir. Turn heat right down to the lowest (I used a diffuser), cover pan and leave for 15 mins.

Add stock, dried mushrooms, tarragon, sherry and mushroom liquid. Stir well, bring to boil, simmer for 10 mins.

    Liquidise and season.

Instead of serving with a 'swirl of double cream', I put a big blob directly into the soup before I finished whizzing it.

So, so delicious! I made a half quantity, which was a big mistake!

I'm going to try the aubergine parmigiana from Rose Elliot this evening.

Have a good day, everyone. The rain and snow seems to have disappeared (in my area anyway) and it's lovely and cold and crisp, with a hint of sun.

the number of carbs printed on the atkins wrappers are for net carbs but some people contend u should count sugar alcohol carbs as well thats why i keep saying the jury is out on the bars etc and they CAN stall u

floods floods everywhere hope there is no more rain today!!

soup sounds lovely not got dried mushrooms tho only fresh, wonder if u could use them .. oh duuh suppose i could dry some myself lol

Much better, thank you - me and lodger were both feeling a bit dodgy last night but woke up this morning with a helluva appetite! We've got a team away day today, which has food provided, so of course I've made a packed lunch

    - Breakfast - coconut and almond porridge
    - Lunch - spinach bread (from Rose Elliot) with egg mayonnaise and flax seed
    - Chocolate and hemp tofu mousse (a new recipe of mine - see below)
    - Dinner - light snack of carrots and cucumbers before pole dancing

    Chocolate and hemp tofu mousse:
    - 1 block silken tofu
    - Splash soya milk
    - 1 scoop hemp protein
    - 1 tbsp cocoa powder
    - Squirt agave nectar
    - tsp vanilla essence
All whizzed up in the blender and served with shavings of 85% cocoa chocolate :p
