  • Hiya, had rubbish day today, so came back and ate 4 slices of toast!:o
Why does every work place (especially ones I work at!) have to have a nasty individual who's sole purpose seems to be getting your back up and bringing you down? GRRR.......

Has anyone experienced eating fruit slows their weight loss? I thought it would be OK as long as you eat the skin, cos the fibre slows the release of glucose (or fructose in this case). Maybe that's why bananas are bad, cos you can't eat the skin. Isn't it strange how something natural, that you can pick straight from a tree, can be bad for you?

Boyfriend wants to weigh me as he's a sceptic re. this high protein, high fat diet. Thinks I'll put on weight and have a heart attack! Of course I told him to get stuffed, even I dunno wot I weigh!:rotfl: I think it was when I was listening to a guest on the cheesy Jimmy Moore show (great show with credible guests, but he is waaay cheesy tho!:D )

This is what Dr Richard Johnston is talking about here to our way cheesy friend. I too can't stand him but he gets some good speakers and asks some reasonably intelligent questions..
The problem is not just that we have fruit available all year but it's made worse by the fact that for the past 10,000yrs or so we have always selected the sweetest most succulent varieties year after year. So the fruit we eat now is nothing like the fruit that was available for paleo man.

When our ancestors got fruit in plenty it was sensible to eat till you were stuffed and perhaps also stack away spare calories for the winter as most fruit ripens in the Autumn, but having Autumn, the season of plenty, all year isn't a particularly good idea.

Also juicing fruits means you can consume not just one fruit but the fructose content of 4 or 5 in just a few minutes. Eating vegetables in such quantity isn't really an option.

  • Yeah I think I may have listened to this guy (but will check) and the Australian bloke who wrote a book about sugar killing you. If Dr Johnston's the Naturopath then I have. Think I'll revise my ratio of fruit : veg! Take some carrot and celery in to work rather than the fruit maybe.

I've just eaten 3 slices of granary toast and butter. I wanted it, I needed it, and it was heaven.

I havebeen getting it tuff all week but have stuck at it feel very hungrey at night but some nights by the time i get tea its 7 or 8 pm.

Have weighd myself and lost i think 8 lb so far from tuesday:j:j:j:j:j

OH has lost 9 lb and gave really quick so only lasted about 2 days but we had no veg at all for 2 days and just meat eggs cheese and cream felt a bit sick - needed to read more of the book and started a bit of veg.

I think what has happend to OH is cause he is diabetic its hit him really quick as the book says it will have more of an effect on him. Very pleased he's going back on it due to the motivation.
