Personally I avoid jams and marmelades completely - I've eaten raspberries throughout, so if I need a fruit sauce or spread I just blend those up with a bit of water (depending on desired consistency) :)

Feeling a bit naughty this morning - I was stuck for a breakfast dish (only 1 egg in the box and a bit fed up of mushrooms), so I made some porridge. Yes I know! But I made it with soya milk, hemp protein and coconut (no fruit or sweetener) - and oats are slower burners than most carbs.

My grandmother low-carbed (maintained a perfect figure) successfully for years but still ate porridge each day, and every vegan I've read about low-carbing still uses oats in their cooking. So I'll see how it goes! Now that I've got a pair of scales I can instantly check whether it's going the wrong way...
Jam whats that ? (sorry i do have jar in fridge and honey and lemon curd ) xx
  • Good morning everyone, day 13.
Hope everyone having a lovely weekend. It's a gorgeous frosty, sunny day here so I'm going for a walk in a bit. Did 20 minutes on the Wii Fit earlier on.
My menu for today, probably suspiciously like yesterday's -
    B - Blueberries/Raspberries with double cream - lush!!
L - Cold pork medallion (cooked yday & probably like old boot today!) with salad
    D - Chilli (again)
Cheese & peanuts for a snack & more red wine tonight!!
Not sure if I'll have a pud, getting a bit sick of jelly fool!!:rotfl:
Hello MoonRose, I've only been here since last Monday but it's great. I find it really useful seeing what everyone else is eating, just to give me some ideas. Good luck with your low-carbing.

sue just tell them the body burns carbs before it burns fat therefore if u lower the carbs it will burn the fat cos it doesnt have the carbs to burn... yes i know thats it simplified but u dont want to mess with those poor lowcal peopls minds lol

the problem is that every time u slip u have to go thru detox again if u could get 1 week under your belt u will find it easier.. remember how crap u feel on tuesdays, do u want to feel that every week? if its always tues make sure u have stuff thats nice AND l/c to get u over the hump

i had a lowcarb jam but to be honest it wasnt that nice so i think pureeing some berrys or rhubarb would be far better,.. good luck with the oopsies

badger u can have a lot worse things than oatflour i have ground oats up and used in place of almond flour sometimes

  • - Badger Lady. Maybe we're like a coven of witches or something (but good ones sending good vibrations!) :D
Also, so glad you said that about porridge as I used to always have that for breakfast before and reckon I'm gonna struggle at stupid o'clock in the morning when I start back at work on Mon. Frying sausages at that time (and then trying to force them down  ) just turns my stomach. So think it's back to that on work days and protein other mornings. Porridge keeps me going for hours too.

Graduated today (I'm a nurse btw) but qualified in Oct. Actually had a reasonably healthy lunch at campus, salmon, cheese, chicken and salad. Was thinking it'd be a lot worse!!! Couldn't even eat the choc mousse cake or my 1 glass of wine! :EasterBun

Well I didn't even know about this thread yous are on about but that sounds pants wot they've done cos I could really benefit from something like that. It's not really practical to go way back on this thread (esp if you're a newbie) and look up recipes that people have posted, like, 300 pages ago, so I was gonna suggest a new thread where we can post and share useful stuff. It's just great to have that support system at the click of a button! But maybe it's not worth it now?

Thanks for the welcome - I did read the thread whilst half low carbing last week - took some of the recipes off and bought everything I need yesterday so its a baking day for me today. Wish me luck cos my family are going to think I've gone mad today lol

Not made the oopsies before but have made a bread which uses the same ingredients and that turned out well so hopefully these will. Quick question - do any of you use jam watered down to make a kind of fruit sauce? If you do which one do you use?
Hi MoonRose, jams are full of sugar (even the lower sugar/higher fruit ones) so you could try the fruit purees (you can get them from Holland and Barrett and think Morrisons do them) which have nothing added. Or just do your own if you can be chewed. ;)
  • thanks - just wondering as we have some in (dh is diabetic) so was thinking of making a fruit sauce with it as payday isn't til next week and I had a hankering for french toast oopsie style with fruit. Will have to have some low-carb choc cake with cream instead - what a bummer eh! lol

    Evenin' all:)

Had a nice day today. Me and Gilly went for a walk - thought we should go out while the sun was shining - was a bit muddy where we were but fabulous views over the surrounding countryside and it was nice to get some fresh air.

shykins - do you tell your hub the 85% choc tastes like mud to put him off wanting any? Your secret's safe with us hun;):D xx

sue - be sure to send us a postcard:)

pilly - congrats on graduating! :T

    b - none
l - cheese and salami with a slice of compressed hamster bedding (scan bran)
d - asda pork shank meal with sliced green beans (which we were meant to have last night, but didn't, coz we had M&S burgers with bacon and cheese instead)

    Much love to all

    Hello sweeties!

First up, Congratulations to Badger Lady and Pilly! Tis great to share in your good news, cheers!

Best laid plans, eh? Who'd av 'em?

Did my best to avoid cider last night but got bought 2 pints in pubs where vodka price was prohibitive. Not good form to refuse in those circs so had to just neck 'em n smile. Getting ratted for the first time since xmas is not really good. Woke up this morning with a dodgy stomach so

B - pint of goats milk and half pint of tom juice. In seperate glasses :D
    L - drumsticks
D - blueberries, crackling off ham shank, ham

Snacks will be sesame crakers and cream cheese or mascarpone choc dessert. Maybe both.

Got some fibresure and used boots vouchers from survey so just about payable. Will be worth it if I can get to grips (rather than gripes) with stomach :D

Made a large Bakewell Tart to take to Dad's birthday do tomorrow, dunno if food will be laid on so may have to just put up with it. M&D both low carb a bit so it'l be fine.

Even if I've blown it weight wise this week with the cider etc I'm not too worried. Had to buy new work jeans as my others kept falling down so will be happy if I only have shape change this time.

Hope you are all well and happy, this place keeps me on message, so I am.

    Big love!

Well done on your baggy jeans, Mercy! Hope you enjoy your dad's party today. I've got a party next weekend and I'm going to have to eat before I go, as I'm pretty sure it's going to be a standard high-carb buffet.

    Yesterday for me:

    B: none
L: sausages, egg, mushrooms and cherry tomato (singular :D)
D: lamb chops (still half price at Sainsbury's), blue cheesy leeks, jelly and cream (oh, and a few glasses of white wine :o)

Absolutely pouring with rain here. Roll on spring!
