Hi all first post but I've been reading this thread for a few days and its inspired me to start on the low carb diet.I'm just coming to the end of day two and it hasnt been too bad.But I go on holiday on Friday camping and thinking about it I should have started the diet after coming back but heyho whats done is done and I need to carry on or I'll get disheartened. So anyone any ideas for things I can eat on a camping trip with no fridge and just the most basic of cooking facilities?Oh and by the way I've read a lot about oopsies but I can't seem to find a recipe for them can somebody either post one or pm me one.I'd be most grateful

hi there welcome to our little clan

sorry not sure i did post the oopsie recipe duuh me lol so will post my version now
2oz cream cheese, 2 eggs, pinch of cream or tartar (makes 6half rolls)

seperate eggs, whip the whites with tartar til they are really stiff,, mix yolks with cream cheese,,, gently fold in the yolk mix to the stiff white,, dollop onto non stick mat and cook at approx 180 for 15mins (i do occasionally use a spoon of almond flour in with the yolks if it looks runny)

the weather is meant to be hot at the end of the week isnt it?? i would suggest things like chicken wings, cold meats and cheese with salads and of course good old bacon and egg for brekkie.. kind of depends on what storage u have and how hot its going to be

Certainly with Dr Dahlqvist.s you can do as much as you can. If you do lapse and eat one of those foods on the Foods to limit or avoid: list then it simply slows the progress. You will be better off reducing your carbs and getting your body used to burning fat and not relying on glucose entirely than leave starting till you get back.

The sooner, you get into the way of thinking you don't eat bread, cake, sugar, rice, potatoes, pasta, high fructose corn syrup and omega 6 oils and you are going to
drink only small amounts of alcohol, the better. It's not a life sentence but just until you reach your ideal weight. No one is going to shout at you if (particularly over the holiday) you have lapses. All that will happen if you lapse is the process will slow down a bit. When you've achieved your ideal weight then it's up to you to decide how far you are going to return to your old eating style.

I don't think most people appreciate there will be other benefits apart from weight loss. Not just "womens problems" either. I'm finding my brain is so much sharper now and it's so much easier to concentrate. It's far easier to make decisions
.. Once you get to the point where you feel you are firing on all cylinders both mentally and physically then it's so much easier to stick to the eating plan.

I also think you don't HAVE to be extreme. I'm sure Atkins Induction is fine for those who have the mindset and want to speed the process up but the harder you make it the more likely you are to give up. While I've not looked at the Idiot Proof Diet I'm somewhat against someone else or a computer telling me what to eat. I've found it perfectly easy simply following Dr D's ground rules and this gives me the flexibility to choose from what's available in the garden or the freezer.

    Hi aurora

What ted said:D I also think it's worth starting now to get into the swing of things before you go away. And it doesn't have to be too drastic:D

Hiya - I also think you probably dont need to be cooking a great deal if the weather's nice. Even at home the last fews days I have been majoring on cold meats and cheese and salad - partly for quickness but partly also because I don't feel like a cooked meal so much when it's warm.

I lost 2.25lbs each week and never did a phase 1, induction, phase. I just went straight into what is Dr D's equivalent of Ongoing Weight Loss.
