Re the post above you will get 20% in free books if your order is over £100 and you have 2 future events booked. These can be party events or anything from your booking at a local mums and tots group to a summer fair.0

I too used to be an Usborne organiser and would echo the words of JAP200 and Soolin. It is hard work and getting a £100 order is not as easy as others would have you believe. I have done parties, school fetes, toddler groups etc with varying degrees of success, but if I got £120 for an order (bearing in mind I live in a relatively affluent middle class area) I was pleased. I can't remember how much commission this meant after costs etc, but I think it was around £30 - not much for all my effort.
My main piece of advice to anyone considering it would be don't get pulled in by an offer or some advertising. If you want to do it, then plan in advance and think of it as a business rather than an opportunity. Think about events that you can be at/organise in order to make sales, and think about the time of year when you can make the most money. If possible, try to have some events lined up to do as soon as you get your pack, as this will make it easier to reach your sales targets quickly (and thus get more books).
When I was organiser the best sales period tended to be Sept - Dec; sales dropped significantly after this. As such I would not recommend beginning in January! Recruiting other people can also bring extra income (you make 5% commission on all their sales I think - which is why people are warning about offers to sign you up here) but like Soolin I felt guilty about seeing my friends and family as pound signs. Hope this is helpful. In a Den first, Theo Paphitis has been getting business information from a talking tree.0 -
I am a mum of an 18 month old and was desperate to earn money to buy anything which didn't come under to title of essential so started doing these on a 'when it fitted it with my life' basis. I had a similar offer. It works well for me.
I will say that I'll never be a millionaire on this but making pin money to buy the baby things it'd ok for me.
Would like some other ideas though on what else I could do to make more pin money with minimal outlay. Any ideas:happyhear YUMMY MUMMY TO HENRY BEAR AGED 10:happyhearslimming world need to get back to target 25lb to goDisney World here we come May 2018:j0 -

I just thought it was a cheap way to set up a little earner rather than companies who want initial layouts of hundreds or thousands

It could possibly be seen as advertising which you are not allowed to do but I am sure the moderators will post if there is a problem.
Glad you like doing Usborne. I have been doing it for nearly 2 years.0 -
How does it work?
Is it similar to the Book People - you deliver a pile of books to a workplace and then collect them with orders a week later?
Thanks

You are classed as self employed and an independent Usborne Organiser. You can leave books at workplaces and collect orders but there are many other places you can sell to such as schools - libraries - toddler groups - at summer fairs - home parties etc. Basically anywhere where they wont be sold on ie shops. You earn commission on any orders placed.
Hope that helps0 -
Thanks for that - Can I ask are the books reasonably priced? I have bought from The Book People on a few occassions as they have great offers so just wondered if they did the same sort of deals?

Yes Usborne have been offering us special deals too, for example the set of spotters that is £12.99 we were offered at the same price, but then we also get our commission off of this price so works out much cheaper and any you buy go towards your sales figures. We tend to get bulk offers such as the above rather than individual books reduced. There is nothing to stop you buyin in the bulk offers and keeping them until the BP etc finish offering them and then splitting the pack etc.

The books start at £1.50 with the majority of the books being priced at £4.99 and as above we get offers from Usborne from time to time plus the option of buying sale items too0
