I don't think you can use anyone other than O2 unless you get the phone unlocked.

Unfortunately, I've just discovered that I'm halfway through a 12 month contract with Vodaphone, which I'm not happy about - I tried to cancel 6 months ago, but they persuaded me to stay with them by reducing the monthly fee - no-one mentioned that they would be starting up another 12 month contract. Grrrr.

I tried to order the phoen twice on the website and got order cannot be completed. Then I tried ordering on the phone and my two perfectly good creditcards were declined. Called the card companies and there are 4 charges on both the cards for £14.99 each. O2 have no record of a phone successfully being ordered. To top it all today I got a SIM with a note that the phone will follow.

This is terrible service and a big muddle!!!

I won't unlock my mobile until they sort out the charger problem.
It would be at least a little annoying if they ask me to send it back after I paid for the unlocking.

I too am confused about the unlocking thing. I've moved to O2 because of their tarriff. For lightish use they seem to be the best, for a PAYG deal, (when you include the free airtime and sms). For very light use Tesco Value seems better, but as mentioned earlier a Tesco sim should workwithout unlocking the phone.

I understand the part about using local overseas sims, but apart from that , why unlock?

Anyway, thanks to the OP, I got one for her indoors, hope a charger turns up, but we have a Moto one anyway. Great deal.

Did they read the terms and conditions of the contract to you?

Isn't it illegal to get somebody to sign up to something like this without them being made aware of the terms. Check to see if they have a record of the phone conversation and try to dispute whether the contract is binding. I know this is a long shot but surely by law there is no contract until you agree to the terms and if they have no record of such agreement then there is no contract.

I contacted o2 yesterday via their website, just received this reply,.
Also Tesco sim cards work OK in the phone. I bought a charger and gave the phone to my Mother who is delighted with it as the 02 signal is much better than her T mobile sim locked Samsung provided. Bought the Tesco sim with 1/2 price calls to 3 favourite numbers works out at 10p per minute landlines and any other mobile network.

I tried to order two phones at £109 each a few times and I have no available balance in my bank account now... getting worried as I have direct debits coming out in the next few days.... money has been allocated but not taken but bank won't give me access to my money.....
