Just a quick question...wopuld a sweeper work on laminate or not? just thinking that the only rooms in my house with carpet r hallway & our bedroom. but if worked on laminate means I could watch kids room a bit more and living room could b done more often...Have to watch when hoovering as hubby works nights..so this could work well if this was the case. Thanks kal25
I should think it probably will, I have got one too and use it on the carpet and vinyl in the kitchen, I got this one
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/8553267/c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7CKitchen+and+laundry%7C12108409/c_2/2%7Ccat_12108409%7CLaundry+and+cleaning%7C12108453/c_3/3%7Ccat_12108453%7CCarpet+sweepers%7C12108460.htm
I give it a 10/10 as it picks up my border collies hair from the carpet no probelm.
Easy to use and to clean - there's a little comb attached to the top of the handle to clean the bristles.
I use it a couple of times a week and vac other days.

Dont mop a liquid onto laminate floor!!!
A liquid will seep into the joins of the laminate planks, causing it to swell. This damage is irreversible!Profit=sanity

Hi if not vacuuming, we sweep our laminate floor with a long handled soft brush and wipe with a damp cloth only when absolutely necessary.
For the carpets, our floorsweeper is a Ewbank combisweep, which I would recommend as it has four settings for floors, short pile, deep pile etc. It's very efficient0 -
ive had a look through the cleaning threads and so far have seen some people ask the same question but ive not seen an answer yet.
Ive started using white vinegar for my cleaning, along with bicarb. I wondered if cleaning this way actually disinfects surfaces etc. If it doesnt does anyone know of an OS alternative that does disinfect? I have a young family plus pets so its important to me that certain areas are free of germs.
after trying white vinegar for the first time last week i was really impressed with the results, its cleaned everything with such ease! so maybe if it doesnt disinfect someone has something they use to just give things a quick going over when they are done?0 -
Hi clarabelle, tea tree oil is supposed to be a good disinfectant..so perhaps you could make spray with some tea tree oil & water? I was thinking of doing this myself.:smileyhea:heart: Mrs Lea Nov 5th '11

If you think about it, you use vinegar to preserve foods so I would think it probably does have disinfectant properties but probably only with a long exposure.
Those who appear to be 'in the know' advocate not disinfecting everything that doesn't move because children's immune systems are not developing strongly enough because they're not exposed to enough germs.

well mainly the bathroom and my food prep areas im concerned about. im not one of these people that needs to disinfect every surface but i would feel happier knowing that my kitchen is safe to prepare food in and that the bathroom, toilet especially, isnt harboring too many germs!0
