    Sorry for being thick but
The same will work for your oven,
You put your oven in the bath ??? ???

Mine's fixed to the wall ???

I ask because mine is in a right state :-[ and I don't like the smell of Amonia
When life hands you a lemon, make sure you ask for tequilla and salt ;)
  • CLEANING LINO GLUE FROM KITCHEN TILES

Has anyone got any good tips for getting lino glue off kitchen floor quarry tiles and getting the shine back on the tiles. I have tried solvent thinner but it is pretty toxic stuff and doesn't work brilliantly.

    Any ideas greatly appreciated.

  • This is a fabulous chat and hopefully someone could help me with my cleaning probs: I've recently moved into a flat with a filthy stainless steel electric hob (burnt on food etc.), plus very worn, grubby looking terracota/stone floor tiles that cover the kitchen and living room. What can I do to clean and polish the cooker and floor? Very grateful for any suggestions!

Does anyone know how to clean stains (ketchup, mayo etc!) from silk ties?

DO NOT try to take your oven off the wall to submerge in the bathtub. I meant that you can use the same solution (i.e. bio powder and water) and spread it over your oven (avoid the fan and lights etc), leave it there for a couple of hours and then rinse with clear water.
So sorry if that wasn't clear.... ::)

  • i am another fan of the washing powder method for cleaning, especially the oven - mix up a paste, spread it on, leave it a while then the ease with which the dirt comes off is amazing

(used it on my glass oven door when i realised i couldnt see through it, filthy slovenly mare that i am :o )

denture tablets also work very well dropped into the loo last thing at night

half a lemon in the microwave for a few seconds, then wipe the inside - any dirt comes off straight away because of the moisture, & it smells lovely

oh my mum would be so proud of me!! (except for the bit about the mucky oven door...)

wow. great thread, will run out to nearest c&c for white vinegar.
in the meantime, does anyone have any ideas on cleaning glass shower screens? my boyfriend is still very proud of his shiny new bathroom and is spending a fortune on the commercial shower screen sprays to use after every shower. the stuff gets used up very quickly.
would very much appreciate a cheaper alternative

easy peasy. i use lemon juice, diluted in water in a squirty bottle after every shower, and rub over with a flannel. works wonders.

if you have a garden squirty bottle thing, you need 5 tbsp lemon juice to the rest water. if it not working, add bit more lemon juice. this works well on stainless steel too. and mirrors. and glass.

  • Can I use the bio washing powder paste on the electric plates of the oven (when they are cold obvously!) to clean them or does it just work on the stainless steel surrounding them?
