I ordered some glasses from www.ispectacle.com 20 days ago.

Since then I have had no communication from the despite me sending 3 emails and a fax (and also trying constantly on the phone number on their website).

Do you think I should start a charge back through the credit card company (130 pounds).

Thay have an address listed in Bolton which isn't too far away from where I live. I'm debating having a ride round to see if there's any sign of life!

Edit I have just gotthrough to them on the phone. The person who answered said they would be posted on Tuesday. I will report back any updates.
  • I just received my 3rd pair of specs from goggles4u and am soooo impressed !!

I used a 20% off voucher which meant they cost £12.32, it would cost me more than that for a trip into the city to LOOK at specs let alone buy any !

    Highly recommend them

Hi, is it possible to buy just lenses? If so, will the optician fit them into my frame I have already?
It's just I have seen the exact frame I want for £25 on ebay and the same frame is for sale in specsavers for £125! (although that is including the lenses)

If you have the frames most online dealers will reglaze for you

I agree. But it's also best to email them first for a quote and let them know what make & model you need glazing.

You should be able to get a pair glazed from about a tenner.

About this time last year, I ordered a pair of rimless glasses from www.selectspecs.com . As a rule, I wear contact lenses, but it's nice (and healthy) for the eyes to get a bit of a rest from these in the evening, so a pair of specs come in handy.

Thanks for all the advice on here, I have saved some links for the future and thanks dizzie, I'm similar to you and like to rest my eyes from continuous wear lenses as working at a pc gives me dry eyes and air conditioning is my foe.

Anyway, I risked zenni optical and requested a faster dispatch time as my old glasses were so useless. They came through, delivered in 9 days from order from Hong Kong and I'm impressed, the lenses are lovely and thin, even for -9.00 and the frames fit very well. My husband measured my PD 6 times to be sure and he was spot on so phew. A risk worth taking. I had been quoted £70 extra for thinner lenses on top of a frame from my opticians, I simply don't have that money so I'm grateful these websites exist, whatever opticians think.
  • I hummed and harred about purchasing glasses online. In the end I opted to buy a pair from zenni optical thinking for £30 it was worth a punt. My glasses arrived from Hong Kong within three weeks they came with anti reflective and UV coatings plus a pair of clip on sunnies.
The glasses are absolutley fantastic rimless titanium and would have cost well over £200 here (based on my two year old rimless specs). They were as good as any I have brought from boots etc.
All in all well worth it and for those who are concerned about purchasing abroad I have to say my experience was faultless. Also dont forget the transaction is in US dollars so the exchange rate favours us enormously.

They quote a fixed $4.95 shipping charge for US delivery. It's not obvious how much the shipping to UK costs without going through the order procedure. Anyone know how much shipping is to UK?

  • I also had difficulties getting the cost for postage from the zenni site it's $9.00 to the UK. I had to email them to find out and as you say you only find out postage costs when going through to the checkout.
  • When ordeing with selectspecs they have a promotional code box at the checkout, does anyone know any codes for selectspecs ?
