Maybe I'm speaking out of turn as I don't do ebay, but it seems to me a bit rich to say that it's the bidder's look out and if they are prepared to pay the price instead of looking for cheaper elsewhere, then tough.

Aren't we on MSE precisely because we are angry at those who would rip us off? Why it's ok to fight back on MSE and not on ebay? Whether it's a supermarket or an ebay seller, a rip-off is a rip-off in my book. How about ebayers keeping one another honest?

    Just an idea.

alyssa_mae, what you did was unethical and probably against eBays regulations. You should be banned in my opinion. Disgraceful.

Personally if I was bidding on something which I didnt realise you could get cheaper elsewhere I would like someone to let me know. Then I would cancel the bid and go buy. I'd probably thank the person who let me know too.

If ebay didnt want people to contact each other there wouldnt be a facility on the site to do it.

alyssa just to clarify you cannot set a reseve on ebay now for less than £50 however you can set your starting price to what you want
jeans are heavy to post approx £3.50 per pair(i sell levis on ebay)
also i charge £5 per pair this covers my
    packaging(postal wrapping paper)
selotape(no we dont all work in offices were we can get it for free)
my petrol to and from the post office
and most of all my time for listing the item selling the item, chasing the buyer when they dont pay of forget to sign the cheque, wrapping the item and my 30 minutes in the post office everyday
so the £1.50 that we rip people of for goes towards my less than minimum wage
I've posted jeans my self on ebay. I know how much they cost. And as for wrapping. this person didn't pay a penny. and I also mean't starting price not reserve.
    HOW MUCH ?
  • Wasn't it out very own martin who was upset when people bought the £10 printers from dell then sold them on ebay and made a huge profit? should he have just said good on you here's to ripping customers off.

I'd better not tell u that when I'm looking on ebay and find someones misspelt something I email them and let them know. Is this wrong aswell. I get some very gratefull sellers emailing me back and thanking me. And no I don't go on fat fingers specially to find these people. it's just if I come across them by accident.

Hey, take no notice of those tut-tutters! You were only doing what many of us have thought of doing, but never dared.

Carry on being a nice person. Thats what is more important!

On the flip side, should people tell sellers that they're underpricing things?

I'm only asking because before I joined eBay (and was helped by the posters on this forum ;)) I spotted a piece of equipment that went for about a quarter of its true value. Should I have mailed the seller and suggested he put a reserve on it? Or would that have been too late? (I'm still learning!)

Btw, can anyone tell me how to "search" on eBay please?

I really cannot believe this! Could you tell me your eBay ID so I can get you banned, what you're doing is disgraceful.
