Today I spotted a dora the explorer scrabble game is Sainsburys for £13 odd.
so I thought I'd look on ebay. There was one priced £19.99 plus £4.50 postage and packaging with one bidder. In my anoyance that the seller was trying to rip someone off. I've emailed the bidder and told her where it's cheaper.( I hid my email address). Do u think I was wrong?

yes, you were wrong
if the buyers are too thick to do a search for themselves then tough, they clearly want something, they're prepared to pay for it, thats why they're bidding
if someone's spotted a niche to make a few quid it's not up to you to take the moral high ground and remove the sellers earnings by pointing out cheaper purchases
I'm sure you'd hate that if someone did it to you, so don't do it again,
...................made me a bit angry that has today :-(money saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

I just hope that when you have a New tarmac drive you dont get ripped off
as you'd be the first to phone watch dog.........
In saying that do email people if you want to tell them about cheaper
sources but keep it to yourself.....0 -
Nah, OP...very naughty..
I agree with bleugh..its up to the bidders to decide how much to pay for the convenience of having an item mailed straight to their door.
If they wanted to search around they would have. Hope the bidder does the right thing if they have already placed the bid- and fulfills their commitment to buy off eBay, putting your mail down to experience.
Please don't do this again, or you could be reported to eBay.Bless Martin's Little Cotton Socks. I thank him for giving us MSE. Look what its grown into!

But I do get anoyyed when people are being ripped off. Even the postage is getting ridiculous. I bought a pair of jeans good price. £5 postage and packing ! They were sent in a used parcel bag and the postage price was torn off so I couldn't read the cost.HOW MUCH ?0 -
There was nothing to stop you buying up a few in Sainsburys and listing them yourself.illegitimi non carborundum0

Alyssa - I'm getting the feeling you don't sell on eBay....you should try it, you may make some money! You would also then understand why postage includes post, packing and handling...unless you are only selling about 3 items ever!
Bidders are not forced to bid, your choice to buy the jeans...the postage cost should be up front, if it is not and you are bothered ask b4 you bid....Bless Martin's Little Cotton Socks. I thank him for giving us MSE. Look what its grown into!

How wrong you are. I do sell on ebay a lot. I know how much things cost to post and pack. I read the postage was £5. But it wasn't until I recieved them that I them knew it didn't cost a thing for the packaging and posting one pair of jeans did not cost £5. Which is why the postage price was torn off the stamp.Newbird wrote:Alyssa - I'm getting the feeling you don't sell on eBay....you should try it, you may make some money! A lot of my things I post in recycled packaging and that reflecs on my postage costs.
One of the things that annoyed me was the reserve price for the scabble was set at £19. If it had been set at a £5 and the biding then went high say £19 or above then fair play. but to set it at a high cost knowing they didn't pay that for it is a con. Ebay used to be about bagging a bargin now it's about ripping people off.
Are you sure your a money saver???HOW MUCH ?0 -
This is such a stupid argument.
Perhaps the buyer lives in the outer hebrides and can not get to Sainsbury's? There are any number of reasons why you would pay more on EBay.
If you take the government figures of 40p per mile for car travel; if you only live 15 miles away from Sainsbury's it is still cheaper to buy the one on EBay.
Alyssa_mae do you stand outside Dixons warning folk that item X is cheaper at Argos? I doubt it!!
As for P&P if you don't like the cost then don't bid.
Most of the items I sell on EBay I have bought on EBay and sorted the listing out to make it clear, add photos, insert in correct category or whatever...I am I ripping people off?0 -
I think we are also forgetting that we do not know how much the seller paid for the item!0
