I agree this argu is stooopid......:wall:
Alyssa...really not sure where you are coming from...er yeh, ok, Yorkshire..
Ebay is still about bargains, but it is also about making a profit on sales, that is why it is so successsful...no? Maybe you should stick to the bargain pages and free ads, if you don't get eBay - take a chill pill eh?

To be fair to Alyssa her comment have a certain merit. I have contacted a seller before now to point out that Iciuld buy their item cheaper at Amazon and all i got was a "So what" reply.
I gave it a bit of thought after that and decided that it was really each to their own. I suppose I am manic about checking prices on most things and will know the market but in most case that is to take adavantage of any arbitrage opportunities but sometimes I will just buy purely for the convenience factor.
Sorry if we have all been a bit harsh on you Alyssa you certainly raised a point that got everyone going....sometimes this place need livened up a bit...:)
Now back the thread that has really got me spitting nails....who leaves feedback first!!!0 -
It's in a way nice to warn people, but perhaps some people are forgetting that trade at its simplest is: buying something and selling it for more. Some things may be rip-offs - but caveat emptor, it's up to the buyer!
Let's not forget that some people simply like the thrill of bidding on eBay, and some might be willing to pay a little more in buying on eBay simply to get their feedback higher.0 -
Well, as someone who paid £92 for a book for my OHs Christmas present last year that had a cover price of £12.99 I assume I was ripped off? Strangely though I was very very happy with that price, it was a book that it very difficult to source and I paid what it was worth to me.
As for making a profit on ebay, well of course I do. So Alyssa if you are selling on ebay and making a profit then you *must* be selling at more than you paid for an item, or am I wrong somewhere?

Hubby was selling some items that e-bay have hundreds of listings for and also are readily available on the high street but we thought we would have a go. To our surprise most of them went for double the RRP without adding p+p!!
So many people on e-bay either don't research prices or just don't care.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
people make a living selling on eBay, buying stuff from shops cheap or on BOGOF or half price stuff and sell it for their proper price on ebay, it's called making a profit
If you owned a shop, you will more then likely sell goods dearer then some shops selling the same gear, it's called making a profit

An item is only worth what people are prepared to pay for it. Thats my opinion

Aww - don't give up! you did a nice thing
What you should've done though was to email the bidder and offer to sell them one at a lower price (then run along to Sainsburys and buy it for her!)
- Better still: you should've bought one at Sainsburys and listed it at a lower price placing it so that it finished just before the other auction, or as a BIN auction. :cool:0
