  • Hi all
Just back after a couple of days traveling, and amazed to see how the thread has grown in such a short time.
While away I purchased some basil and garlic cheese, gouda type, bright green and huge flavours.
Would love to recreate it, have been searching the web, but no success. Are there any cheese makers on the thread that could help?

    And to Contribute

    Rich Ice Cream
    4 eggs
    3/4 cup sugar
    2 tsp vanilla essence
1/4 cup liqueur I use Blackberry, but Amaretto is also good
    500 ml cream
Separate eggs, beat yolks, sugar, vanilla and liqueur until thick. in a separate bowl whisk the egg whites until they form frothy peaks. Beat the cream in a third bowl.
Fold the cream into the egg yolks , then fold in the egg whites. Pour all into a plastic container and freeze.

    HEADS UP Laydees & GentulPeeps!

Electric slicers are coming to a Lidl near you for the princely sum of £29:99, starting 18 Sept. I can't vouch for their effectiveness on HM bread but others around here rate it very highly. I CAN, however, marther on for hours about the lovely slices they produce from tinned or cooked joints of meat--especially for sarnies & salads when chunks just won't work :p

As an aside, my smilies haven't worked since they switched that bluddin thing on in Switzerland [enter 'rage' smilie here]Weds was it? All that money & for what....

Where did you get that info from please?

Just checked on line for the two closest stores, and neither show it as up-coming -- and I really, really want one

ETA: Have checked the 5 closest to us, and also to my parents (30+ miles away) and nothing like this showing for any of them :(

    morning lovelies,

as am off on my hols next week, I decided I'd have to harvest the remaining indoor tomatoes, cos a week with no water'll prob'ly see them off. (I'm gonna leave the outdoor ones incase the rain looks after them for me. So just harvested 4lb of yellow toms, and have made a slo-cooker full of curry and enough chutney for 6 jars!

    Very happy with that!

My virtuous decluttering is continuing. I'm being ruthless and flinging out stuff. Very cathartic and good for the soul and all!

Bigmumma that's a great tip on the slicer, and thanks too to whoever posted about the cheap bread flour (think it was you cheerfulness, Ta!) I'm going to stockpile today :)

Nope...mine still arent working eithers...I'm guessing M.S.E. is trying to sort it out...dont think we can blame "that b....y thing" aka the particle accelerator for that one:D - but wouldnt mind knowing why a couple of posts have been leaping places on M.S.E. the last few days;)

Now...come on BigMumma - any theories going on how "that b....y thing" might play around with the known Laws of the Universe as we know them (ie time going along in a straight line...). Er...only joking....I think;) - but then I can have wierd effects on things electrical all on my ownsome sometimes!:D

Oh well.....did well for a bit of food this morning - greengrocery (various) and jams (sugarfree being me! - ditto various) for nowt this morning. Yay for the Gift Economy!

    Afternoon all

Thought i would pop by before parking on the sofa with my knitting :D ...

Just had lunch -had some leftover cornedbeef hash so shared it between 2 dishes and topped with puff pastry and whacked it in the oven.. by the time we got back from blackberrying -it was cooked to perfection (i thought it was going to be burnt to b*ggery)..it was yummy but BIG :o ....
We got 2lb of blackberries (someone told hubby where they were this morning woohoo) so i will be stewing them with the last of my free apples and freezing(if i can find space)
Have another 2lb of tomatoes and 2 big courgettes to roast off too later when the bread goes in the oven....
oh and need to turn the chicken stock into soup... didn't get to it yesterday -but it will have to go in the fridge for monday (no room in the freezer)
Whilst we were blackberrying i eyed up where i could get lots of elderflowers/berries next season yippeee
Right im just going to order some more wool and then get back to my knitting :D
have a great day..and have a great jolly weezl :T
