Ah, now what do you class a bum? I have a tattoo just above my coxix (ooo fancy word for me so late in the evening :D) so does that make me member number 3 of the tattoed bum department?:rotfl:

Weezl... I've not yet braved reading the WHOLE whopper of a thread but keep seeing you mention indian dishes... do you have a list already complied of your recipies anywhere? dribble, dribble....

not sure if our Weezl has updated the index enough for that yet, but I do have several Word documents compiling all the recipes I wanted to keep as I came across them (I lose them on the forum!), including one with all the curry recipes I wanted. I could whizz it over to you if you like.

Off to bed now, I'll do it first thing if you are interested

  • Weezl- my marshmallow krispie thing made about 20 good sized chunks, could been put in a bigger tin to cool and made more, but I didn't think of that at the time.....

Ms Diva, your toffee version sound nummy, will be giving that a shot next time I'm whipping up a batch. Bashing toffees sounds like it could be as much fun as smushing diggie biccies, which I enjoy muchly.

My only tatoo is on my arm,a dreamcatcher, although I am after another one, maybe I'll join the club too.

If roasts are a favourite, can I recommend the value/smartprice turkey leg (especially good if slo-cookered) can't remember if you've got one, sorry :o which would do meat for 6 people if you used other trimmings like stuffing balls. 13p for a pack of SP stuffing (or Mrs M makes her own! Cooooeeeeee, Mrs M! Any chance of a recipe? ;))

Weezl - This is very interesting. I have been looking at the value turkey legs for a while bit wasn't sure how much meat you could actually get from one. I do have a slow cooker, but haven't had it long and would be grateful for your advice on how to cook the turkey leg in there - ie low or high and for how long - do you put liquid in etc? Any help very gratefully received.

Re: freezing beans- that's what I do now. Apart from the fact the fuel for cooking individual meals worth of beans would negate any money saving over tinned beans, I'm just not that organised :o

I soak and cook a whole packet of chickpeas/kidney beans/pinto beans/whatever and then freeze them in 400g packages (equivalant to a drained tin). I haven't noticed any difference since I've been doing it.

    HMK

Mr T sells them this way too and you can get soy beans which are cheaper bought this way rather than under their posh name"Edamame"

Has anyone ever worked out the cost of dried vs tinned including all the cooking time i would be interested in the results

I use my pressure cooker for beans and there is no need to soak any beans inc kidney due to the high temperatures achieved during cooking , i use this cooking guide

    http://www.fatfreevegan.com/pressure/pcbeans.shtml

The sites not bad either but i hate working in cups !!

Another day(overseeing) decorating today so see you later ...............maybe

that's good to know. I soaked/cooked up a load of chick peas yesterday - I didn't realise quite how much they would swell up from dry (although it's obvious now I think about it), so I'm glad to know I don't have to live on hoummous all weekend!

If you do go to WW look at the core plan, dunna when you last went but I think it works much better in the OS style than points, IMO

.... Okay I've never been confident making stocks and soups etc...

When I cook a ham joint I always change the water to get rid of salt etc... (I only do this because that's how MiL showed me to cook ham...) Do you change the water for a hock joint or boil it in one go until done, and use that water?
