Hello there all you lovely readers, lurkers and posters :hello::hello::hello:,

Have popped in at elevenses to let you in on a little secret... here's your coffee and cake :coffee::bdaycake:

Decorating aside, I must now confess to another thing which has kept me from posting so much of late.

It would appear that a small Weezl is on the way. I am 13.5 weeks pregnant.

    Gulp.

Now the thing is, that having spent my whole life priding myself on being a tremendously unfussy eater, I quickly realised this had become a thing of the past!

    Lentils-yuck
    saag bhajee-yuck
Anything made out of the pig's head-yuck (I was 7 weeks pregnant the day I excavated the pig's brain!_pale_)

What were we to do? I ate all the meals in the freezer I could keep down:eek:, and then hit a dilemma. I couldn't tell you all, cos it felt too soon as family and friends didn't know yet. I couldn't cheat, as I am a woman of my word.

    Much head scratching ensued....

Acetate Monkey, protective of miserable food-hating me, and concerned for the development of Fergus the foetus (his current nickname:eek:) concocted a plan.

It's 50p per person per day, quoth he...you won't have cheated if you eat another 50p. He in fabulously magnanimous fashion has remained true to his 50p throughout:o. (although Fergus gave him a bowl of muesli t'other day!)

So, that's what I decided to do. I really hope I haven't let anyone down and have remained true to the spirit of the challenge. I have lots more geeky maths related to how to get enough calcium etc for pregnancy on my new plan!

I felt if I posted my daily figures before, the game would be up, but if you'll all still have me, I shall continue to post away in earnest!;)

Other facts you might like to know, due date 05/03/09. Scan was wednesday and heart and limbs were all present and correct.

Love to you all, and may I beg your forgiveness for my secrecy?:D

    Weezl x

    OMG CONGRATULATIONS!!! :j :j :T

Your little bean is due on my youngest daughter's birthday - who is also pregnant and due to make me a granny on Xmas Day! Found out at her scan today that it's a boy, so will make a lovely change for me as I "only" (didn't feel like "only"when they were growing up lol) have 2 daughters.

Great idea of your hubby's, 50p per person, and ikkle Weezl is a person so need his share too! :D

Congratulations, Weezl and Acetate Monkey :) That's wonderful news! I just astounded my OH telling him, and he's chuffed too :) I think you're totally justified in upping the budget, possibly in line with inflation a little as well. Aww, well done. :)
Continually trying the Grocery Challenge. Gotta keep trying!
  • Im starting to catch up and am on page 115 now - but just wanted to say you lot have changed me for the better lol

I had big plans for today - grab a sarnie from the shop on the way back to work after hospital - fish and chip supper and then buy bread and cheese for cheese on toast tonight when OH gets in from the pub.

Instead i read some more last night after my post (which i havent got as far as yet so apologies if im ignoring anyone) and got inspired.

So i took my frozen roll to work with my fruit (thinking that if i desperately wanted something i knew i had a bag of crisps in my drawer and some packet noodle soups) and did NOT buy lunch!

Then this afternoon i was reading a few more posts (a bit sneakily at work) and realised if OH isnt back til late i can make the bread in the BM (a novelty since ive only had it 3 weeks so its not always my first thought) and then saw cheese on 2 for £3 (which scanned as BOGOF so £2.29) and thought with that extra cheese i could make cheese scones and have them for lunch next week alongside my BM rolls.

Not a big achievement i know, but im sitting here now with my Friday Vodka with the 2nd load of washing on, bread in the BM, scones cooling on the rack just finished a frozen RM that i found at the back of the freezer the other day and cant stop smiling

    thanks

aww thanks all for the birthday wishes...dont know how I'll cope for a whole day with no mse...and on my day!
Am hoping that with all yer persuasion that weezl will consider a slight increase on top of Fergus's 50p...there are additional chocolate rasions to consider after all...one must feed the baby!
Menu looks delish Weezl and NO you cannot cost my birthday meal!! If anyone wants it they can pm you...I mean...really!
Very pleased that pepys are a knitting. I thought you all would as knew people would be as happy as I am at the news...I'm doing a patchwork play mat, also in male/female cols just in case its not a Fergus! • Wow what a totally unexpected turn up for the books. I think there is something in the water because of pregnancies all over DFW as well. You know i am thinking it must have been when AM ventured onto the board..must have been catching:rotfl: :rotfl:

Well all that remains is for me to wish the Weezl family all the very best and looking forward to geeky maths bits re calcium and such. Lovely bit of news for the day.BOB X:T

  • ISOM I was hoping you would offer, think you are the best person to do it :)
I am not a sew-er, more of a paper crafter but will have a think.

I hope you have an amazing day, the menu sounds amazing.

I just started to take apart my cupboards in the ktichen to move house and I can't believe how much I have, so much for not buying anything in the run up, guess I can't resist a bargain!

    Nigella’s lemon syrup loaf cake.

    For the cake
    125g unsalted butter
    175g caster sugar
    2 large eggs
    zest of 1 lemon
    175g self-raising flour
    4 tablespoons milk
    Pinch salt

    For the syrup

    Juice of 1 ½ lemons
    100g icing sugar

    Preheat oven to 180/gm 4.

Make the cake by mixing butter and sugar and then add eggs and lemon zest. Add flour and salt and fold in (I just whizzed tbh!) and then add milk. Put into loaf tray and cook for 45 mins. While that’s doing make the lemon syrup by gently heating the lemon juice and sugar until dissolved. Don’t remove from loaf tin when its cooked but drizzle the mix over the top of the cake (I put a few hols in too) and then leave to cool and then eat. Simple and very delicious. Can also substitute oranges for the lemons and use lemicello liquer for the top!
