and that's the "loose" price at our local Somerfield -- not even for pre-packed or pre-prepared which work out dearer still  :eek:Cheryl0

let me know how it goes down please...... if it gets past your DH then I'd be interested in testing it on mine :rolleyes2
 hehehe ... the children had the lasagne for tea, and it was a bit bland, (despite tons of garlic!) so when i gave it to DH i warned him he might need to season it.
he ate some and agreed, and asked if that was because i had added more of the veggie tomato sauce to the meat than usual !!:j:j
:j
i have to admit i said 'yes' !;) (but he didn't say he couldn't taste any meat!!!) i asked if he liked it and he said it was really nice, just needed a bit more seasoning !!!! i think i got away with it!!! it was definately filling and the oats had completely vanished (and infact, so had all the lentils!)

ps ... got 8 kiwi fruit today for 39p from MR T, added to the 4 i have left that i bought from lidl yesterday ... any ideas what i can do with them??? i love them, but the children weren't keen today, and neither was DH. they are all ripe enough to eat, and need using asap. can i make jam?0 -
thanks for the update on the lasagne
will have to be one I make when no-one else is in the house, as I don't want to risk anyone walking in and seeing what ingredients I'm using/not using...... so one for next month after son starts college and on a day that hubby's out all day for chemoCheryl0 -
Just popping in before bed...this may help re kiwi.

I've been doing really well with reduced things at the supermarket recently...went to Morrisons to stock up on the 50p deals and cooked meat/cheese/bread had mega markdowns.....so our freezer is now brim full with pre-made sandwiches and 50p meat ...only things I need this week are white vinegar, nappies and milk :T
Will be going foraging tomorrow for blackberries and hopefully visit some ethnical supermarkets as suggested on another thread to get more vinegar...and morrisons apparently have an offer on nappies, so another bonus.....
Look away now if you don't want to read about pig trotters!!!
Tried pigs trotters last week.....met with ok results but couldn't face eating anything near the trotters.....butcher gave us one from the bottom of the knee joint down for £1.50....don't know if it's normal to charge as it's the first time I've had any, he quartered it for me and I slow cooked it all in sweet and sour sauce (Mr Ts mix around 6p a packet)...yum.....will do it again but try and get more, as complaints were voiced that there wasn't much meat  added it to noodles (Mr Ts basics)
Right...it's now started thundering again, so better turn off the pc!!!!! Rain, rain go away....then again....make the blackberries all plump first0 -
morning all,
how's it going weezl, much decorating left to do?We're all missing you on here so come back soon missus, hope you're not feeling that we've hijacked your thread too much,it's just that there's such a lot of good feeling & friendliness on here,it's lovely coming in for a natter0 -
Just wanted to pop back in to say thanks to Weezl for this thread as well as the last one.
After the curlygirl link on the last thread, I'm using so much less shampoo and conditioner that I still haven't quite finished a bottle of shampoo and have conditioner left from mid-June (they usually only lasted 3 weeks). So thanks again for that tip
Also, my meal plans this month have involved much more chilli and mince meals and my grocery budget seems to be going much better. I've still got a long way to go to bring it down to where I'd like but Weezl's geekiness rubbing off and making me work out the prices of the main meals I cook has made mea realise that I wasn't paying that much attention before and can actually work out how much saving buying a cheaper brand will make
So we are half way through the month (payday-wise), have a freezer crammed full and I still have money left for foodSo that's a fantastic start for me. Thanks Weezl
On top of that I have discovered HM olive tapenade (in the freezer now), butterbean spread/hummous (which is lovely with ham in a sarnie) and dhal (although OH has to have chicken added ). So my packed lunches are getting more interesting too, without getting more expensive
Just wish my pot of rocket on the windowsill would grow - it seems to be a bit stunted and I only have 2 leaves on itThe spinach is doing a bit better.
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
What a great morning......if your a duck that is.....still raining off and on here! Have decided that summer has chosen to go elsewhere this year!
Anyway, lots of work to sort out at home today for my work yuck then have to make and decorate a bday cake for friends daughters bday party tomorrow so need to find time to get to cake shop for some more dye/colour and florist wire!
Hubby has his second interview today so he is being a bit nervous, I keep telling him to not sweat it as he is the best bloke for the job! ok, perhaps I am a little bit biased.
Anyway, here is hoping the sun eventually comes out and that you all have a wonderful day today
lots of huggles

oh yes, was going to mention that I have still been unable to find a chocolate maderia cake recipe so think I am just going to make a normal chocolate cake or risk swapping cocoa powder for a bit of flour for the maderia....not sure yet. I am sure there is a recipe, but I have just not found it anywhere. probably doing too many things at once as of late.I am somebody. I am me. I like being me. And I need nobody to make me somebody! Here's a recipe, munchki - probably pretty much what you were going to do anyway with the cocoa/flour swap http://www.desserts-recipes.com/chocolate-dessert-recipes/chocolate-madeira-cake.php
Good luck to your OH with the interview.0
