    Hi ALl

What foraging dedication i showed yesterday - torrential rain, my poor jack russell got roped in fro his walk, me balancing brolley and tub and going blackberry picking.

I only did the little line of bushes id seen and got about 20 - 30 berries. Got home and boiled kettle intending to let it cool and then put over berries nd bf decided to be helpful and pour it still hot over berries - water is now bright red but hoping they will be ok and if nothign else clean so will have to find somethign to make with it later - have got bramley apples so im thinking a crumble - i still have the patch at my mother in laws to go to and i found another huge bushed site yesterday - was slightly deterred and would have come away with more but the partof the bush with nic eberries on had about 8/9 bees round it and the bush had a big central lump to it so declined because i was worried there was a hive lurking under it!

anywho there were still lots of unripe and ripening berries there yesterday so ill go back in a few weeks - hopefulyl no rain this time and see how i get on - after all theres only 3 of us but im keeping space in teh freezer just incase. Plus i have about 8 jars under the side that could do with filing so if i get a realyl good haul like nikki (well done btw!) i might jsut make some jam but sieve it because little one doesnt like pips.
    Time to find me again

Hi in search of me! I completely agree aout the Bread Maker!!!!
Tho I am looking to be making my own bread "properly" now. do you have any good recipies for a newbie bread maker..... like myself ;) that arn't too hard?!!!!
    Ta! :D

    Two possibilities here:
    - either look up Weezl's blog (its on her homepage on M.S.E.) and try her "Bread of Heaven")

    - or look up my blog (also on my homepage on M.S.E.) and search the links for "food" - and my bread recipe I use regularly is there in a food post. (Need to click the "food" heading under links on mine - because covers a lot of other subjects besides food).

will ask my Mum about the chillies. Can't for the life of me remember what I used when I made some :confused:think they probably went into the Muslin/whatever with the cloves?

.... wanders off to send Mum another email -- she's going to be feeling very popular with two emails from me in as many days ;) .......

I made bangers and mash last night and had it with some cabbage and leeks that we'd had for ages. The boys seem to buy meat sausages and bacon everytime they do the shopping, despite the fact we don't use them often, so I'm trying to get through them as I'd like to empty the freezer to defrost it! Bangers and mash is a good tea though as it's easy to do some veggie sausages seperately for me.

I decided to mash all the potatoes we had (with some carrots that also looked a little passed their bit) so tonight I might make them a Shepherd's Pie. Despite being a Shepherd I've never made one, so I'll have to see if it works. There's a portion of veggie 'cottage pie' somewhere in the freezer, so hopefully it's still okay, it's been in there quite a while. If not, I'll have to make a small new one for myself. I don't really like making two seperate meals though!

Well done to everyone on their blackberry foraging. If the weather's nice at the weekend I'll see if the berries are ready in the nature reserve behind our house. There's a crab apple tree too so I might make Bramble Jelly.

Crumbles :rotfl: DD and I both love crumbles so I'm going to freeze the berries and use them to make crumbles over the winter.

After washing/sorting them last night I still managed to fill a 4 person casserole dish with them :D:j Will weigh them later before I freeze them ;)

    Hello ISOM,

I wasn't referring to any event in particular. The ****cursing was a joke (ahem, an unsuccessful joke) about the fact that many people behave badly when they can't see the person with whom they're communicating.
