    Hello ISOM,

I wasn't referring to any event in particular. The ****cursing was a joke (ahem, an unsuccessful joke) about the fact that many people behave badly when they can't see the person with whom they're communicating.

ahh I see... a bit like when you pick your nose when in the car perhaps...not that I ever would, of course!:o :D

Much as I find decorating pretty theraputic and rewarding, I don't think I'd want to be at it quite as long as they've been

I spent this afternoon at Ikea sorting out replacements for the last of the 'damaged on delivery' goods from some stuff I ordered on 3rd May and which finally arrived last Friday after multiple mess ups on there part (and a refusal by me to accept anything during the three weeks my son was home after it transpired the delivery I was expecting on 1st July had been booked at their end for 8th July!)

    it is rather quiet here!

i was just popping on to check up on everyone and also to say thank you to whoever mentioned using porridge oats to thicken sauces etc ( i think i read it here, but maybe another OS thread!!! ) i was making a 'bolognese' sauce to make lasagne with, when realised that i didn't have any mince in the freezer (how did that happen???) so i added a load of red lentils to my veggie base, and let them cook/reduce down in some stock before i added the tomato, but it was still runny ... so i added a couple of handfuls of oats and WOW nice thick sauce, looking just right! :j

i have made the lasagne up now, and it is cooling, before i cook it tomorrow! (got a very busy day, and i want something 'proper' to eat!) and a couple of portions of sauce left, so if i add some chilli and beans .... another meal!!!
hmmmm wondering if DH will realise no meat involved??!!;)

    night all!

I'm still here *waves*. I'm also feeling smug because last night I checked the budget monitoring device in my phone - the spendometer (http://www.spendometer.co.uk/ A free programme which allows you to store your daily spending under a range of categories which it then summarises into a weekly spend.)

Anyway my food spend is A THIRD what it was at the start of the year. I am delighted!

This is down to 2 things:
    1. Better planning
    2. Portion control (Put on a little weight last year :o but have now lost almost all of it!)

I've booked 2 days off work (Friday and Monday) to go camping but the weather forecast is so bad, I have decided to stay at home and finish decorating the flat I bought OVER A YEAR AGO and still haven't finished. It's half-painted, half-covered with dust sheets, half-unpacked. I'm living like a the 'before' part of a Flylady testimonial! (Only my kitchen and garden are finished and nice! :rotfl:)

Anyway, this weekend is ANTI-PROCRASTINATION weekend and I have decided I'm going to finish it, by hook or by crook. It's only about 15 hours work, I've just found it hard to devote the time to it on normal weekends/ weekday evenings and I haven't managed to take much holiday yet this year.

So hopefully, when I catch up with this thread on Tuesday, I will be doing so safe in the knowledge that I live like a normal person, not some sort of squatter!

Just a quick question here and am hoping all you lovelies (sp) can give me a quick thought!

I need to make a bday cake for a friends daughters birthday this weekend. Have decided to make a maderia cake as will stand up better to what the finished cake is going to look like. Just need to know the following please.....

She loves chocolate so want to flavour it, not sure however how much cocoa powder I should substitute in place of flour to make it work. Any thoughts would be most grateful

Thank you ever so much in advance.......

Now back to this bloody spreadsheet! Think I should take the laptop and work in the garden instead.....looks nicer out there heheh

Munchki, there's an index at the top of the board with recipes grouped by type in it. I will post you a lnk in a sec.

    Edit: I've had a look:

    1. Click on sticky (i.e. permanent post) called 'Welcome to Old Style, read me first'

    2. Scroll down until you get to the link for the 'Complete Cooking Collection' (I have this saved in my PC's 'favourites'!)
