BF, yes, I went WOOFING at Lower Shaw Farm. The last I heard of it, the place was under pressure to disappear so that somebody could build yet another big anonymous development in the name of 'progress.' So many people have had a wonderful (frugal!) time there over the years....what a shame.
BB, have you investigated whether your local authority has a gym? I used to attend a fitness centre based in a local school. It was separate from the school facilities, so there weren't kids zooming in and out, and it was air conditioned. There wasn't a pool and it wasn't glamorous, but there were proper machines and properly trained attendants and it was a fraction of the price of the privately owned gym. Sometimes a GP will give you a referral to a gym like this and then you get in for even less. I stopped going in the end because I was bored, but I would have got bored in any gym.
Hope I haven't got BB and BF mixed up.
Janey, my thoughts are with you.

I've just had a play on the site, and it's recalculating OK for meBut their minimum cover is now a lot more than my daughter has, so not sure if she has different terms as an existing policy holder

Oi - I am offline for one day and you fill pages after pages - have some mercy :rotfl:
I had my now usual Tuesday evening exhaustion yesterday. When I was walking the dogs I just wanted to lie down on the field amongst all the cow poo and have a sleep. Fell asleap in bath and went to bed half nine.
I am taking my own tea bags and dried milk to the college but this morning really really wanted some coffee so spent money for the coffee machine just to have my first two attempts fail costing me 80p and only after first lession my brain kicked in enough for me to realise I had been pressing wrong buttons. By then I needed chocolate to go with the coffee to console me.
Did get good news today as got now confirmed that I will get my childcare 100% reimbursed for the days I am in the college/in my placement. Big relief.
Janey - sorry to hear about the silly byrocracy in the very difficult situation and I think Amazon is great I sell there and if you are not a professional seller you won't pay fees until you actually sell unlike eBay
SF - I hope you are feeling better soon, good thing about a day off to be able to get some rest
Mrs Hayes - I will PM you a link that might help you
LS - great news about the house - very exiting
Bails - Oooh why do the hen night arrangers do that? I have a black thin cardigan (sp?) that sparkles. Do you want to come and try it on, it makes anything a bit more glamorous (sp? again) I promise if I ever get married it is just you and me having a nice pizza in your back garden with some Irish cider (please?) for my hen night.
Sophiesmum - I think you are amazing
Whitewing - please do sent that nice man into my direction, vet and Irish are just desired attributes not essential
Everybody else - hello :hello:

So news from me about Little dog. After much discussion with Dh last night we have decied to get in some professional help in order to see whether or not our dogs issues can be resolved or whether they just can not live together and if so we will go ahead and rehome one of them. I spent all day yesterday lookin up canine rivalry on the net (which seems to be our dogs problem) and am now armed with some info. We feel we owe it to them to try this avenue first as the dogs get on fine when we aren't there so it appears to be something we are doing which is the problem and maybe with some professional help we can change whatever it is we are doing wrong. We are going to speak to the vet and the kennels to see if they can recommend someone. Obviously the babys safety is our number 1 concern and if the situation is unworkable then one dog will have to be rehomed but we really want to give it our best shot first. So feeling a little more positive today. However we need some extra cash to pay for the training so I am going to pop over to the £1000 in 100 days thread for some inspiration! xxx
Sorry, just delurking to say that Jan Fennell's 'The Dog Listener' techniques on pack leaders are very good. I have two of her books and they are great at sorting out situations such as yours. http://www.janfennellthedoglistener.com/ Try your local library to see if they have a copy.Cos I don't shine if you don't shine.0 -
Marru,
You have the same nerdiness rating as Martin. I am saving that man for my friend, but if she doesn't want him, then I will pass him your way. He is an outdoors man so may be more suited to you anyway.

We had our loft insulation (250mm of glorious fibreglass) and cavity wall insulation done today. This is wonderful. We waited months to be scheduled in only to be told last month that grants were withdrawn. Then funding came thro last week so they came and did it quick. (They got to us at 11am and had already done two houses this morning; great lads).
I was sooo excited. Even before they left, I happily informed them that it already felt warmer. He shook his head slightly sadly and said, "It isn't dry yet, you'll notice the difference when it's dry".
Anyway, I wouldn't have known about these grants had it not been for this site. I am really looking forward to our heating bills diminishing.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Somewhat nerdy. I mean face it, you are nerdier than about half the test takers.Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Good evening,
I've been busy today, slobbed around until after 12, then went to town with 2 sisters. Had lunch (I paid, £40:eek: ), remember I am still in training, and I have had a hard couple of days:D . Then I went in search of a garden hoe, these are excellent for getting rid of weeds on the driveway. I was MSE with this, the first DIY place I went into was selling them for £20, but I was not paying that. I tried another place and got one for £4.95. The £20 one is obviously better, but I'm not going to be using it constantly. So I've cleared my driveway and hoovered up the dead grass on the back lawn that was left from Sunday's mowing. I couldn't get all the grass lifted then because it was so wet, but it had dried out.
I then made soup and prepped the dinner for tomorrow, (am cooking for myself as I've had a falling out with my mum, won't be going back for a while). I like cooking anyway, potato and leek soup and then for dinner, turkey, potatoes and carrots.
My family have been on the phone to make sure I am okay, even Mum's friend who I think the world of, she was persuading me to go back, but not just now, my mum was really nasty to my young sister and I wasn't standing for it, so she knows she is wrong and can apologise. I can feed myself thank you!!
It will let me catch up in here anyway, the place is like a tip cause I am never in it!!!
Speak later,
SL x0
