  • Morning everyone, hugs to all who need them

SL- sorry to hear you didn't get the job, hopefully another good opportunity will arise soon
Whitewing - I totally know how you feel when you say it seems as if you are stuck in a cycle. Sometimes I find that it helps to do as Bails suggested and write a list of all the good things in your life to help you stay positive. Also I often find when things seem low good things are only round the corner
Janey - Sorry to hear about your mum and useless SS. Hope they get it sorted pronto.
    LS- Yey for your house!
Blue Fleur - If you think you will be motivated to go to the gym enough then I guess £40 is fairly reasonable. I have never joined one as I know I would not motivate myself to go often enough to make it worthwhile. Instead I bougt some dumbells to use at home (£15 I think) and I go dog walking and cycling and do exercise dvds, are any of these an option for you?
Bails - I used to love student discount - every little helps!
SF - hope you are feelin better today

So news from me about Little dog. After much discussion with Dh last night we have decied to get in some professional help in order to see whether or not our dogs issues can be resolved or whether they just can not live together and if so we will go ahead and rehome one of them. I spent all day yesterday lookin up canine rivalry on the net (which seems to be our dogs problem) and am now armed with some info. We feel we owe it to them to try this avenue first as the dogs get on fine when we aren't there so it appears to be something we are doing which is the problem and maybe with some professional help we can change whatever it is we are doing wrong. We are going to speak to the vet and the kennels to see if they can recommend someone. Obviously the babys safety is our number 1 concern and if the situation is unworkable then one dog will have to be rehomed but we really want to give it our best shot first. So feeling a little more positive today. However we need some extra cash to pay for the training so I am going to pop over to the £1000 in 100 days thread for some inspiration! xxx

It is expensive SF but I have a BOGOF as part of my gym membership so wanted to use it as I have these sometimes anyway. It's the best massage I've ever had, just hope this therapist is as good as my previous one! PJs and duvet here.
That sounds like a good plan Mrs Hayes, I have no idea how much these things cost but I appreciate it will be worth it if you can resolve the situation without giving up one of the dogs. See my post today on £1000 thread, it might help ;)

About 10yrs ago I did a wooffing weekend ('Willing Workers On Organic Farms') on a farm on the outskirts of swindon- had a great time but can't remember its name.

    Lower Shaw Farm?
That's the one! Do you know it ? I couldn't remember the name and googled the one you suggested LS but as soon as I saw the words Lower Shaw Farm it clicked straight away.
Today, my new frugal ways resulted in:
cancelling the window cleaner (£4 every 4 - 6 weeks). Searching high and low for an alcohol free mouth wash and found superdrug own brand for half the price i was paying before. Ditto face moistureiser (have use Oil of ulay for years) and found boots own at .92p per 100ml which is a 5th of the price I have paid before. Had a £2 coin in my change:j . But then discovered that's all I had to get the £1.30 bus back home, so went to the bank and drew out final £10 of the month and £2 coin now safe in piggy bank:D . Didn't go in any charity shops or buy anything else of weekly walk through town after mosaic class Resisted buying bunch of bananas as this would take me over GC budget. (Don't worry, I have buckets of fruit in the freezer to saty healthy with):A . Just about to explore transfering ISA to the one in Martins email.
Janey - I have just started listing books on amazon. It is very simple to do and not the faff of photos that put me off ebay. I have sold 2 so far - one with 2 days of listing, and one a month after. Listed 10 so far.
Sorry you have to face the problems with your mother on your own. It really is appalling that the system would 'dump' her somewhere. How we treat our older residents who need and deserve help is a disgrace & the stress of this must be very hard for you.

Eek, I need help! I haven't been getting the emails about a hen weekend I'm going on the weekend after next and I have to find the following:

a party dress or something 'glam' for a casino night
a pair of new knickers which represent me for a game we have to play:eek:
a 70s outfit and a wig for an ABBA night

Where am I going to find all this at such short notice?! Also we are going on a boat trip, having lunch out in a pub and hiring a butler in the buff so it's going to cost WAY more than I was told (I've already paid £130 for accommodation )

Any ingenious ideas would be very gratefully received...

  • OMG I'm somewhat nerdy - for someone who has to consult DD for instructions on how to do almost everything on the computer I find that hilarious!
    52% scored higher (more nerdy),
    1% scored the same, and
    47% scored lower (less nerdy).
What does this mean? Your nerdiness is:

Somewhat nerdy. I mean face it, you are nerdier than about half the test takers.

Bails, can Ijust check that you really want to go/ would have a fab time, or are you feeling under obligation. I only say this as Ijust don't 'do' hen weekends, they are way out of my price league, especially as i would have a better time doing something else fun with the money. That casino night sound £ . If yes, you'dhave the time of your life - sorry, can't think of anything helpful yet but will try:o

Thanks BB, I do feel obligated but as it's my SiL-to-be's I can't really back out. I thought I could afford it as I was assured it would hardly cost anything on top of the cottage (as that was so expensive we were staying in so I thought I'd just take my own food to make). The casino night is at the house as I understand it, thankfully!!

  • OK, freecycle is the place to start for 70's stuff, wig- I often see requests for events like this in our local group. As for the knickers that represent you, - I would have though you're a commando kinda gal:D

:rotfl::rotfl:Ha ha, classic, thanks BB, I needed that laugh! Maybe I'll make some out of cling film to represent the commando look :D ( Just to assure anyone who might be grossed out, I don't actually have to wear the knickers, they're for the bride to guess who brought them and then she gets a whole new set of undies - we have to buy them in her size).
Freecycle, doh! Sometimes the most obvious things escape me :o
