cw18 you can only add electricity meter readings once per week, I do mine Sunday to Sunday, adding in the readings on the Monday morning. I was confused about the 8 days thing but it's so the meter has clocked up the entire 24 hours. I'm with Bails on the hot water, ours is only on for the occasional bath as we have an electric shower. I always top up flasks with whatever water is left in the kettle after boiling it and this does for dishes. It also helps loads when we have power cuts and we've already had one last week for 3 hours! Being a smarty frugalpants, I had hot water and the BBQ was used to heat up lunch.
Tuesday is as good to me as any other day for meter reading, but I can see it slipping sometimes regardless of which day I aim for
As for hot water, our showers (en-suite plus mixer over bath) are both gravity fed - so we need water in the tank for that too. I'd be happy to use the kettle for water to wash pots (possibly via a flask or three), but the pot washing is one job hubby can still attempt most days (health problems) and I don't think he'd cope at messing around with that.Cheryl0 -
OMG I've just bought a house
I'm going to see the mortgage people at HSBC tomorrow, so I really hope everything goes through OK. They'd preapproved me so it ought to be fine...
SL, sorry to hear about the job. At least the feedback sounded positive and it's all good interview practise!Live on £11k in 20110 -

Hi there
Have just registered and I'd like to join this too please! Is it worth it though now that we're near the end of September or should I wait until the 2009 challenge? Thought it might break me in to start it now!!!!! Not sure how I set up the footnotes for this and other challenges though - can somebody help please?!0 -

WELL DONE! Like Sophiesmum, I'm dying to know which one you've bought? Excitement galore! Come on... spill the beans and we'll all hope that everything runs smoothly for you.
Corndolly, feel free to join in with the challenge, although it may be a little difficult as the £4000 is balanced out over an entire year rather than restricting ourselves to £1000 per quarter. Just practice keeping tabs on everything you spend, work out where the money goes, how much you can save by doing this and how quickly it could help you pay off any debts. It will stand you in good stead for starting the new challenge in 2009
I'll be starting a new thread for part 4 next week, so if there are any names missing from the original list on post one then please let me know. ThanksI reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

I've bought this one:
http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-19404784.rsp?pa_n=false&tr_t=buy
Estate agent said they were taking it off the market, I guess they haven't done the rightmove update yet. It is the old mans with the nice neighbour, decided it was a better long term place than somewhere leasehold without a garden. I don't know if I would have got the other place for my offer, as I rang the estate agents and withdrew it.
It's not going to seem real until i start having to sign things I think, then I can start celebrating! Not that I'll be able to afford to celebrate with anything except tap water.... :jLive on £11k in 20110 -
