I didn't get the job:mad: . I am angry at travelling all that way for nothing, I'll just need to keep on trying. It's not the end of the world but I am really fed up about it.

SL, sorry that you are disappointed about the job. Try to think of it as experience gained, which will help you out in the future.
I feel a bit panicky today, there are redundancies afoot in our town.
Trying to keep sane and count my blessings. There is a lot of good luck about too; two people I know have won competitions in the last week that I have encouraged them to enter. It'll our turn next (fingers crossed...euromillions is looking tempting if I'm on a lucky streak. No. I keep telling myself that I have premium bonds and if I'm going to be lucky, it will be on that).
Hugs to everyone who needs them today xxxxx:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -

You are right whitewing,
However, I am having so much bad luck just now, that I just don't know if I will ever turn the corner, never mind, I suppose I am better off than a lot of people.

Oh, I know. The thing that tends to get me down more than anything is that it always seems if something good happens, then 20 seconds later, something bad happens to negate it. Probably if I stopped and thought about it then I'd find that the cycle really is that something bad happens, then something good comes along. The bad, sick feelings seem to stay with me longer.
I am really having to adjust my thinking again to taking pride in paying my bills and having a reasonable home. It seems to be if I think of myself as having 'spare' money that it suddenly becomes unavailable.
Take care, folks.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Ddraig, well done on starting the MoneySaving Carbon Club.......
I have been quite curious about how others are managing on i-measure as I am now ranked 37/40 and have jumped to a carbon rating of C!
Did check back against my personal records from this time last year. The 5 weeks covering Sept and running into Oct 2007 saw an average of 13 units/day on the electricity, and 11 on the gas (that's 11 once all the conversions to chargeable units has been done). The figures I've entered today cover 24 days (so the first 3.5 weeks of the same period) and average 14/day on the electricity and 7/day on the gas.
Only reason for the reduction in gas I can think of is that I've cut back how long our water heats up for each day (reduced from 90 mins to 60 in the morning, and totally cancelled the hour in the evening). No-one is complaining we're running out of hot water, so the hour a day is obviously enough for the 3 of us !!!Cheryl0 -
Great news about the coat JB :T
Really sorry to hear about the job SL and about the redundancies in your town Whitewing. The only thing I hold onto when things are bad is that this time will pass - it sounds lame written here but has got me through really tough times. Hugs.
I'd go for the bad thing followed by the good thing WhitewingHow about writing a list of things to be grateful for? Always helps to put things into perspective (hope this doesn't sound patronising, it's from someone having a bad day here too).
CW, we don't have our hot water on at all now (we used to have it on twice a day). If I want a bath I just put it on an hour before. It's amazing how little hot water we actually need. The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

The guy from the job phoned me as I sent an email for feedback this morning. He was all apologies etc, and said that he felt terrible (so he should). The upshot of it was that 4 people travelled down to Leeds for the interview, I was the first, the guy that got the job went down on Saturday morning. He got it because he is already in the industry and has customers he can bring across to their company. He said that they are considering splitting Scotland into 2 sections, if that happens, I will get a call from them. He said it was between the guy and me, but I can't sit about waiting for a call.
It was nice for him to get in touch in person, I do appreciate that. I'll just need to keep going and the feedback was useful. Sometimes, it is not good to take someone with experience on, they have a lot of bad habits, I would have been much better!!!:D

Skint Lynne, it was nice of him to ring and tell you what the situation was.
Sorry you didn't get it though. xx
This is my 3rd NSD in a row :j :j wahey. On the downside, I'm illI was meant to be at work today, but I had to ring up, as my head feels as if its stuffed with cotton wool. -sigh- so hopefully it'll clear up ASAP.
Hope everyone's having a good afternoon xxBe who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Hello
The delivery man brought my dehumidifier this afternoon, so I'm pleased to say that I have a another new toy to play with and will do a full review as soon as I've sussed it all out. It's only 235w as opposed to the 1000w heater I was having to use last year, so that should help keep the electricity bill down a little bit.
Slowlyfading, I hope you are feeling better soon.
SL, sorry about your not getting the job but, if something better comes along, you may end up glad of how things turned out, who knows?
cw18 you can only add electricity meter readings once per week, I do mine Sunday to Sunday, adding in the readings on the Monday morning. I was confused about the 8 days thing but it's so the meter has clocked up the entire 24 hours. I'm with Bails on the hot water, ours is only on for the occasional bath as we have an electric shower. I always top up flasks with whatever water is left in the kettle after boiling it and this does for dishes. It also helps loads when we have power cuts and we've already had one last week for 3 hours! Being a smarty frugalpants, I had hot water and the BBQ was used to heat up lunch.
Whitewing, you were my ambassador for list writing and always had a list at the read to show things you were glad of... maybe you just need to start doing those again.
On the house front - I can't decide if this is good news or bad news - our LL is back in the neighbourhood and has apparently moved back up here, currently staying with a relative and, I am guessing, there's a divorce on the cards. I know this house belongs to both Mr & Mrs, so.... is it time to step up our househunting or is it time to try to assure myself that it would be practically impossible for them to sell property at this precise time? Or what if he decides he wants to move back in here himself? Personally, I'm thinking we'd be slightly more secure with an official landlord and a proper lease... all opinions would be appreciated, especially from our LL if he happens to be reading this!
Ooh! I think I've just received EagerLearner's clicks list, must go seeI reserve the right not to spend.
