NYK could you please pm me the name of who you have your contents insurance with as i remember you sayin it very low and mine is up for renewal and also how much excess fee do you pay with that?

Hi Mumzy, first of all do a comparison to find the cheapest and then check to see which are listed on the cashback sites. I went through cashback sites for both DD and myself. I know you are ages with my DD and her quote was about £90 for contents and there was £70 cashback at the time. Mine was £52 ish and I got umm... I think, about £50 cashback :D I don't normally worry about the excess amount, but think it's about £100.

    Bails:
Cheap undies and do a quick 'personalisation' tart up job on them.
Glamour wear - have you something you could accessorize accordingly?
Wig & 70s gear for Abba night - costume shops hire wigs out, it cost us about £6 each for the weekend and they were good wigs! :rotfl:
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Janey - Sorry to hear about your mum - I hope it is sorted sharpish and you find somewhere where she will be happy and manage to have it all approved etc in time.
LS- Congrats on the house! Looks fab!
SL- sorry you didn't get the job, hopefully something else will come up soon
Sophiesmum - I'm glad Monday went as well as it could have.
Bails - For the wig- could you try one of the supermarkets? They may have halloween stuff that could be adapted for bargin prices? A lot of the bigger £ shops here have stuff too.
((((hugs)))) to everyone else who is feeling down, ill or just in need of a hug!
Thanks for the good luck thoughts about my conference trip! Thankfully I woke up in time! It was fine and actually quite good fun! Good food :o and lovely hotel too! No panic attacks either :j I was also a bit worried about how much everything was going to cost but I think I spent £3.25 in total :j :rotfl: which is coming out of my entertainment budget as it was on juice and a bottle of water to try and rehydrate after the drinking on Mon eve :o Everything else is claimable back from the organisers or paid for by my boss and his friends!
    Nerd score as follows...
    26% scored higher (more nerdy),
    1% scored the same, and
    73% scored lower (less nerdy).

Mid-Level Nerd. Wow, it takes a lot of hard nerdy practice to reach this level.
Is it sad that I thought it'd be higher?? :o :rotfl:

Cool, thanks peeps. I was going with the cheap knickers personalised approach Nyk - came up with getting some sports undies to represent my sport, attaching a stress ball I have that's the world to represent my travelling and a plaster to represent not being able to go/play at mo  Still liking the clingfilm commando look though :rotfl:
So my brother has a MASSIVE afro wig and medallion so I'm thinking of sticking it and going as a bloke! Could probably pin some trousers to look like flares and just get a gaudy shirt unbuttoned to waist with fake chest hair. Not exactly sexy but hey ho! As for the glam look for the first night,

  • Just come back from a few hours out with my mum picking blackberries. Have managed to pick about 7lbs, have also been given a bag of cooking apples so will try and get time to turn them both into some pies for freezer later. Will take a couple round for mum and dad too. Going to go back tomorrow and pick another load, might take my niece to help (free child labour:p )as she will be at mums tomorrow.
I was also given a carrier bag of tomatoes today by my favourite electrician who does the jobs at the court. He had just harvested his greenhouse produce and his toms were huge beef tomatoes, they will be used for omelettes, and some for sauce bases for freezer. It all helps with the stockpile challenge and the 5 a day aims - succeeding well at both up to now.
About to go for a swim and sauna - will post again later:D

When my car insurance came up for renewal I used the comparison sites, and then checked on the cashback site I use. When I went direct to the insurance sites that appeared on both lists I found a lot of them let me select a lower excess than the comparison sites had offered.

In the end I went with my current insurer, but as a new policy (via cashback) instead of as a renewal. My renewal had a £150 excess, but the 'new' policy has a zero excess -- and the extra £44 cost of the premium is covered by the £45 due back for using the cashback site. I think the cheapest I could find was about a fiver cheaper than what I'm effectively paying, but wasn't a company I would have been particularly keen to go with based on stories I've heard about them dragging their heels over payouts......
