  • Hi Frunchkins:D

Just renewed our contents insurance online and managed to get it cheaper than last year:D managed to get it for £57.78 and went through Quidco too for £50 cashback:j, if that tracks and pays okay will be a years insurance for less than £8, i love quidco:D Will update sig on Oct 1st when it starts.
We do only have a two bed flat though;)

TTDB - Hope you feel better soon (((Hugs:heartpuls )))

Marru - Glad you sound a little more positive today:D

Water rates - I don't pay as included in my salary but rest of flats pay about £240 year usually split into monthly payments of about £20, that is with North West water/united utilities. Some of oldies on water meters pay even less than that, but they basically only use occasional shower, toilet and bit for cooking etc. They use communal laundry for washing, and mostly only one person lives in flat.

Just sitting here snaffling some of OH's jelly babies from big tin which I have made him open,(went out of date in june but taste fine:p ) he still has lots of goodies left from last xmas not opened yet:eek:, he is not a sweet tooth.Think I will have to help him out a bit, especially with the big jar of choc brazils I have just found in his wardrobe:p.

    Hi guys,

I haven't done any more of the things I had meant to do on my 'to do' list, but I did apply to join 2 survey/research sites in the hope of earning a few pounds extra. In reality, I would need to be able to set aside £10 per day every day from Monday until new year to give me the first quarter of 2009 as cash in advance. Not sure how I'll manage on the £10 per day thing tho, as I still can't see how anyone else is managing it. If anyone has the list of how to do all the 'free clicks', then I'd love a copy of that. I thought I'd got one before from EagerLearner but don't seem to be able to find it. Or maybe I just meant to ask and then forgot! :o:confused:

Is anyone else going to attempt the £1000 in 100 days mini challenge with me? :D

Hi Marru, I have started a new thread for this mini challenge HERE so that it doesn't get mixed up with this one. I'll need to start part 4 of this one on 1st October and it could get confusing. GOOD LUCK!

  • Thanks for the utility direct debit explanation whitewing. We save up month by month so that we can pay the quarterly bill when it comes.

Had a bit of a scare today. A letter came to our house and I couldn't see who it was addressed to. I opened it, and it said there was a bailiff coming in 10 days  It was addressed to the people who lived here at some point before us- not sure how long ago. I rang the company to tell them this. They said that that was fine and that they would take our address off their mailing list. I really hope that was the right thing to do, I have no experience with debt collection type things. I wanted to ring my parents, but got no answer :o I may have moved out, but I'm still looking to them for advice!

With that scare it has made me even more determined to pay everything off.
  • BlueFleur - If any bailiffs do happen to turn up anytime just show them some identification and they will usually accept that they have the wrong person.
If you get any further mail - don't open it just write on "not known at this address- return to sender" and stick it back in the postbox, they will get the message eventually.

Nyk - I am sitting here now plotting how I can make the £1000 challenge work:confused: it's going to be tough:rolleyes: Nice to see fellow frunchkins getting on board.

Oh blow it! I really want to do the £1K in 100 days challenge, but I know I've got some seriously horrible stuff coming up in the next few weeks and it will be too much to cope with everything. I shall keep an eye on the thread though. Best of luck folks.

Did get some good news thou. My cavity wall and loft insulation is going ahead next week. So may survive a little longer without heat.

Hi sophiesmum. Hi bails. Marru, I've always found what I eat really affects how positive I feel xxx

Uuuuh - I am trying to sort out my accounts. I have got as far as 15th of August and now I have to give up. Good news about utilities thou. My monthly electricity payment will go down to £7.20 from £25.- and I only used £24.- worth of gas from mid June to Mid September. Water has been £13 per month for awhile now. Also had a look at the council website about the council tax. I should now be excempt as I am full time student. Need to give them a visit next week.

    Sleep well everybody,

    Marru

  • Ooooh Oooooooh Ooooh Ooh Ooh....!
    Very excited.
I've just been offered an allotment - I thought I'd have to wait about 10 years to get far enough up the list. Only problems are 1) I wasn't expecting it now so I've arranged enough work for myself to keep me busy 24/7 for the next year  and 2) I haven't seen it yet - maybe everyone else on the list has turned it down because it's reverted to primal jungle? Anyway I'll go and see it this weekend. (If I can find it - the instructions assumed I'm a lot more familiar with the allotment area than I am.)

Oooh, I'm all a-tremble, never had one before. Don't know what to grow, or how much time I need to put in per week, or anything...!

Oooh Redglass! Exciting! Homegrown veggies next year! Well done! I just hope that it isn't a jungle but if it is, then that's the excuse for not tackling it too soon... let the winter weather kill off some of the overgrowth to make it easier for getting rid of it :D

£1000 extra in 100 days is going to be REALLY difficult for me, but I'm hoping to be able to learn a thing or two from the £10 per day lot. I have just finished listing the first of my declutter, including the magazines in my 'to do' list, so it's a start. I've got rid of the September500 in my signature and swapped it for the new challenge, all ready to begin on Monday. I did a quick survey of the freezer contents, assessed the dampness situation in the hallway, have a large box of items ready for listing next week. I'm ashamed to say that I didn't get around to stewing apples or boiling potatoes but did end up making some more cookies. :o
