Can you make (or save) £1000 extra in 100 days?
Challenge 2 - Jan 1st to April 10th 2009 is here
Monday 22nd September is day 266 of 2008, which means there will be exactly 100 days left until 2009. My plan is to attempt to earn an extra £1000 before New Year 2009 so that I have a good start to the new year. I intend doing this via online auctions, surveys, free clicks, cashback and/or any other means possible (and legal!).
This challenge began as part of the Living on £4000 for a year challenge, part 4 of which is here. The £1000 in 100 days is now being run as a challenge in it's own right.
This challenge began on Monday 22nd September and will end on Wednesday 31st December 2008, as the bells ring out for New Year! 100 days, no more, no less - GOOD LUCK

Thanks Nyk,
I am in but might want to be a bit different and do a different amount and run it to the end of the tax year instead to the end of the year if this is ok. I will come back with my figures when I have sorted my outgoings for the last six months and budget for next six months.
Just to clarify if I have got this right:
Taxable income:
Surveys that pay cash
Mystery shopping
Selling professionally
Cash back sites that pay in cash
Not taxable income:
Matched betting
Bingo
Surveys that pay vouchers or wins from their draws
Cash back sites that pay in vouchers
Selling personal items
Nyk please help me out here as I know you have looked into this. Thank you ever so much!!!

Hi Nyk:D
I'm game to give this a try, have a few renewals coming up soon which may be lucrative with cashback etc. Don't know if i will be able to manage the whole £1000 but at least it will give me something to focus on.
I'll start with todays £50 cashback but won't count it till it is in my bank account:rolleyes:0 -

I'm in, could use the extra £1000 to funds next Xmas ( Jan sales ) & the long dry month of Jan
Currently I use ebay, pigsback, quidco, bootsales to make extra and save spare :rotfl: change in a tin, I'm also considering giving up smoking so i could put that money in.
I will clear all totals and use any money gained from any of these from Monday 22nd, Good luck to everyone else.
I'll keep a running total in my sigBusy mum of 3, so if my posts don't make sense or ask a silly question be patient:rotfl:0 -
Marru, perhaps as you are aiming for a different amount over a different time scale, you should start a thread for that as a seperate challenge? This one will be finishing on 31st December, when I'll request the thread be closed before starting the next one in 2009.
I am no expert in tax, but when I last spoke to the tax people about this they told me I needed to declare voucher value against my income because it was a form of payment in exchange for completing surveys, or whatever. The only income that doesn't need to be declared, as far as I am aware, is that derived from winnings such as betting, bingo, lottery, premium bonds, scratch cards etc and the proceeds generated from selling personal belongings. I think everything else needs to be declared as part of your income for tax and benefits reasons.I reserve the right not to spend.

Thanks Nyk that was very helpful.
Might run this as a personal challenge in my signature after I have sorted out my finances as then I truly know what I am aiming to.
Good luck everybody!

Sorry a question already lol
Do you count money as you earn it or when it hits your bank? For example surveys I can earn £1 a day but I won't actually receive it till I get to the payout levels.Proud to be dealing with my debts - DFW No: 712
