Hi Mumzy, it'll just be the aftermath of your partying weekend. Try to get an early night tonight and you'll hopefully feel better in the morning. You can't hit 21 under the weather - we need you all perked up and bouncy, bouncy, happy, happy, like your usual resilient and cheerful self. Late nights and kids just don't mix very well. On the bright side, you'll be right as rain in no time, but think of us [STRIKE]poor[/STRIKE] frugal oldies... ANY late night fells us even when there are no celebrations or booze to be had. :rotfl:

I saw an advert for baby Continental GIANT rabbits. I want a giant rabbit so I can call it something tiny, like Titch, and litter train it and teach it to watch TV like the one I saw on a web page somewhere! :D

EDIT: ooh, just been given an easiyo through freecycle, so no outlay and & now yogurts are going to be costing much less. Can't wait to try it out tomorrow, or as soon as Ive bought some UHT & yog starter.

    Hi Brighton Belle,

I was catching up today and saw you ask about Easiyo, so was going to give you some advice as I have one. However, now I see you've found one, I'm going to ask for your advice instead! How are you planning to make yoghurt with UHT? Where do you get the starter? I have always bought the easiyo packet mix - you just chuck it in the tub with some water and leave it overnight. Is there a really frugal alternative that I have been missing all these years?! I love this challenge. Thanks.

Easiyo users - I am sure I read lots about these on the Grocery challenge thread, so you could try there, plus there's someone on here uses one, umm... would I be right in thinking it's Sophiesmum?

Marru - I've been on the Giant Rabbit rescue site, still have it in faves and I think that's where I read about people having them as house pets. I won't really be getting one, because we aren't allowed pets when renting, it's just something else that I like to say 'I want...', just like the chickens and the ducks and the horses and the incredibly cute donkeys and puppies and kittens and... you get the picture - can you guess I grew up with and worked with animals? :D The guineal pig and finches got special dispensation by landlord and are actually written into our lease. :rotfl:

I did a quick £10 grocery shop today, went over by 10p so I could use my last £1 off voucher. I KNOW I was trying to wait until tomorrow, but I needed a walk, so went to Co-op.

I now have £1509.68 to last me until 2009    If I can manage this, I'll be well on schedule to save for DD's wedding. :T :T :T

Hello, yes there is a cheap and easy way that really cuts the cost:
1 ltr of skimmed UHT milk (I'm using skimmed to max low fat reasons - but you can you the full fat or semi to suit your tastes). Add 2 tablespoons of skimmed dried milk (to make it thicker) and 2 tsp of live natural yog (anything with friendly bacteria in - i'll be using 2tsp of what we have left of shop bought stuff). Mix it in the easiyo inner container and the rest of the process is the same.:j I'm trying my first lot over night tonight. Lidl UHT= 49p + pence for the dried milk and yog 'starter'. Say max 55p for a litre of yogurt. And you only need to use some of this new batch of yog for your 2tsp starter of the next lot. Buy a new small pot as fresh starter every 4 batches or so I have been advised.

Here a link to previous discussion on this -many users refer to a tblsp of yog rather than 2 tsp, so may need to experiment http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=717089

Nearly all natural yogurt you buy (i.e.the non flavoured ones) are 'live' so like all yogurts, yes are 1-2 weeks they will go off. It's the live bacteria that turn milk from milk to yogurt. I asked for one of freecycle and got one very quickly. The easi yo one are reduced in Lakeland at the mo to £9 from 13.99. I don't know about any others, but I suspected yog makers were the sort of gadget many people would have gathering dust at home , so reckoned freecylce would be a good place to start.
Hope you are feeling a bit better mumzy. EDIT: a PM is on its way xx
