Janey, what an incredible picture you have painted of Tom's farewell. Lovely words, I could imagine it perfectly. Your loving relationship with Tom is such an inspiration to me. If I can love my H2B with even one hundreth of the affection and dedication you have for your man, he will be very honoured indeed.
Anything whatsoever you need from us here to ease the tough times ahead, please do let us know. You take care xxx:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Janey, what a beautiful day for Tom, I'm sure he would've loved it as you said. The books are a wonderful way of sharing everyone's love for him. As others have said, we are here for you in any way that helps ease the time to come. I'm so glad yesterday has brought you some peace. Huge hugs from all of us here, and kitten cuddles from the crazy fluffballs xxxThe 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

I'm afraid to say that Marru is exaggerating her dog sitter's skills immensely! I'm also afraid to say that I didn't exactly have the best day (although I loved walking DF/EL)...as I was working out my budget for the next year!:eek: It's going to be a huge challenge but I've got it to a place which is just about bearable. I only hope I am well enough to go back to work by then or heaven knows what I'll do to survive
Glad you had such a great day DraigGoch! I actually use that method of accounting, in that whatever I would have spent goes into my PMS fund (if I'd actually updated my sig in the last few months you'd see how much I've managed to save that way). It's been a really helpful way of making my money stretch further, which is completely the name of the game in my house as I can't earn anything.
Sounds like Mumzy and Sophiesmum had a lovely day too, some bargains there! What are slug traps?
Thanks for the marigold tip too Nyk/Sophiesmum, I'll do that next year.
Well done on getting the shower curtain clean BB - watch out, this frugalising is addictive and you seem to be easily inflicted with it:T
Today was an 'interesting' day - we were at my parents last night for a birthday celebration for my dad so my brother and fiance were down as well, whose situation couldn't be more different from ours financially. I won't bore you with the details but I was a little glad to get away, sadly (he did lose 20k in physical money on a house deal today though ).
We went shopping too, and I spent quite a bit of my clothing budget  getting 2 pairs yoga pants £7 each, white linen 3/4 trousers £6, a pair of walking trousers £49.99 down to £14.99 (zip-offs so double up as shorts too) and a cool outdoors T-shirt (£12.50 to £5). I completely admit that the last 2 were 'psychological buys', pining after my old lifestyle but hopefully helping me to get back to it as well
My mum was also very lovely and bought me a great shirt and a heart necklace, and sent me home with a food parcel to help with the GC :smileyhea My parents are so wonderful about my situation.
I also bought a bit of food to make my total up to £30 for the NOTW £5 off, so will add it all up tomorrow.
Have a great night all xThe 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Hi everyone, just to say that we are off to Cornwall for the week tomorrow so I won't be around. Happy frugalling in the meantime! I'm not going to blow the budget but I am going to take a week off I think, as I desperately need some proper time out to try and get my sleeping sorted again. Have a great week xxThe 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Well it is pouring here and I decided last night not to do the car-boot.....good thing too!
My sister is having a garage sale next Saturday as the school opposite, is having their summer fayre,. We do this every year. When the punters park up, they always come and take a look at our stalls. My two DD's wil be doing it. So will my niece, sister and a few friends. Whats great about it is, we don't have to pay a fee!:D Just pray for good weather now.:A
We have pork for lunch today, and then after we have taken it to OH's father...we always cook for him on a Sunday. We have decided to go out to a nice pub we know in the countryside, about 8miles from were we live. OH will be paying so wont come out of the budget. I'm driving, so I'll be a cheap date for him!:rotfl:
Last week, I decided that I was drinking far too much coffee. So decided not to buy any anymore. It has been killing me. However, I have had some delish fresh coffee when we have been out, so I really don't mind driving when we are out for a drink as most pubs do great coffee's. It makes it seem a special treat somehow!
Have a good day everyone:DLiving a frugal retirement without treading on the planet :T

Bails, have a great time in Cornwall.
Sophiesmum, good luck with rummaging in your drawers :rotfl:
Mumzy, glad you had a good night out and hope you aren't feeling too under the weather today
FunBrum - have fun at the garage sale!
Sophiesmum, I like the agendas, so, on my agenda for today:- Washing, despite it pouring with rain, I have a frugal pulley thingey
- Repotting chilli peppers (in shed to keep dry)
- Bake some mini sponges with icing/sprinkles as we have nothing nice for munching with coffee
- Check out the freezer & fridge contents
- Try not to spend anything during entire first week of July, one more day to go
- Update my frugal homepage/website
- Try not to think about yet another house we've spotted
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.
