Spent out on clothes last month as it is my brothers wedding this month. Managed to borrow some shoes and a necklace from some dear friends so that has helped to keep the cost down.
Taking the children swimming today as it is horrible and rainy here but apart from that it should be a NSD.
Janey I’m glad the day went as you wished, the books sound like a wonderful way of remembering someone that you obviously loved so dearly.Credit Card Debt

Kerching!!! Red g. After your prompt I went and read up on bleaching shower curtains, as I had tried before and it never worked very well. I discovered I hadn't been putting enough bleach in (I think I feel guilty putting bleach in the water system so try to feel better about that by only using a little) Also the curtain label says don't use bleach
.) So I put in 3 x the usual amount of bleach and the shower curtain came up as new:j . The bought one is being returned, so that's £7.98 back in my purse.
I'm thinking of buing an 'easiyo' (non elec yogurt maker) as we get through so much these days & I've found one reduced by a 3rd. Anyone any experience with it, or general tips for low fat yogurt making. I'd like to see if I can come up with a HM low cal toffee version too, to replace the toffee muller lites which we love but are pricy. Any suggestions welcome.
Marru - thanks to your lovely name prompting me, I have now found the true origins of our boat's name satu marru. It is all Finnish: the satu, as you know, meaning fairy tale and marru is a girl's name, shortened (the Finns use 'u' like we use 'y'.
Discovering the dilemma of needing to spend money to save money. Bought a 2nd 2lb loaf tin so I can bulk cook & freeze cakes. Also, looking for mini muffin tin as I've decided to make more cakes as presents rather than buy a gift. Money saving in the end, and so far, I find people love to receive it and appreciate the time that has gone into it. And I love doing it. It's rather useful that I have never liked cake myself so not too much temptation (apart from scraping the bowl out:smileyhea . I will go over budget this month, but even so, I am thinking harder before buying anything and making sure I can justify it.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
Janey, it sounds like a wonderful day and I'm glad you were able to post. xxBe who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Janey, I can't think of anything else to add to what's already been said. I loved the idea of the books and hope these can bring you some small comfort on the future. Please keep posting, as your frugal lifestyle is of the utmost importance to us all, as are your funny anecdotes and your extremely talented writing style. We all miss you.
This is my final day of shop-sitting before friend gets back from hols and I'm awaiting the arrival of my friendly PC to update on the scam investigation. Sadly, I've spoken to no fewer than 10 people over the past couple of days who have been duped. Most hadn't even been aware of it, let alone reported it to police, so it's made me even more determined to make people aware of what's going on. Unfortunately, it now looks as if the scant information that the fraudsters are obtaining is enough to secure a credit card!
What with all the shop-sitting, party aftermath and scam research, I haven't had a spare minute to spend a single pennyAll that's gone of my 4k budget this month so far is the electricity bill, which means this is my 7th NSD and not a single complaint about powdered milk! :j Going to try for another 2 or 3 no spend days then it means I have spent 0 of my £10 grocery budget.
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Hello Everybody,
Just a quick one as am tired from our outing yesterday. Will give a full update later.
I had the best dogsitter yesterday. She tidied around the house, did my washing up and bought me lovely chocolate puddings (that I was too tired to eat last night so looking forward having some later today). Thank you Bails! You have two new fans. This is what DD said this morning: "Do you like my Bails? I like my Bails! My Bails not your Bails."
I will come and thank you properly very soon!!!
Hopefully this evening my brain starts to kick in again so that I can reply properly to everybody. Off to have more tea if that helps...
Sunnyish day here so hoping to go for a walk a bit later.
Enjoy your days Frunchkins,
Marru
PS Sophiesmum: THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU........ :smileyhea (you know what I mean!!!)"Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

Janey, you succeeded in your aim, well done. Tom has had a beautiful leaving do and the memories will warm your heart on cold, cold days. The books are a beautiful idea that will help you through and certainly helped those with you to celebrate and wave goodbye to their dear friend, Tom.
Take time for your thoughts and know that ours are with you.
The budget will get sorted out, and so will life in general, just so long as you take the time for yourself.
Very best wishes and warm hugs

Hi Frunchkins,
Had a good morning in town with mumzy and her DD, weather was alternating between torrential downpours and blazing sunshine. I had a bit of a spend  but got lots of bargains;)
Pair of black cord jeans and hat for my DD from primark £1 each
2 x throws for my sofa for snuggling when watching films £4 each
4 boxes of splenda sweetener 50p each usually £1.80 but short dated;)
£3 in pound shop 1 on slug traps:p , notebooks(for frugal list making) and vacuum fresheners.£2 in poundshop 2 on sweets.
2 boxes microwave popcorn 29p each, 1 tub ready icing 29p, and bargain of the day trident soft centre sugar free gum (usually 49p) 12 packs for 55p.
also got two nice insulated mugs £2 each and bag salad 99p (no leaves ready to pick!) and tub of reduced humus 49p.
food and drinks £8.49(for 3 of us) and car parking £2.70
Total spend for today £35.09 but has satiated my urge for a spend for time being. OH likes his pressie of slug traps and mug - he is easily pleased:rotfl:
18 months ago I would go to town with DD every weekend and spend £100+ on "stuff" so £35.09 since February , including lunch and parking is not bad;) have updated my totals.
Have just cleaned through the house so the rest of the evening is now for chilling out:D. Enjoy the rest of the night everyone.
