I would be interested to hear from others with recent experience of Flogas. I am inclined to believe that they really are trying to improve their behaviour and their image, and frankly not before time
    Some recent reviews on Trustpilot:

Sorry, I suspect quite a lot of that is misleading or untrue:

    - of course they get a commission but if they also get you a lower price than you can get on your own, why should that matter? All switching operations such as uswitch etc work on similar lines. nothing underhand about it

    - if Flogas breach the terms of their contract you can switch to another supplier and Flogas are legally bound by statute, to transfer the tank to the new supplier.

    - why on earth would they charge twice as much to remove an above-ground tank as an underground one?

    - indeed independent suppliers do have their advantages but there are such things as economies of scale so it is best to judge each offer according to your own circumstances.

I would be interested to hear from others with recent experience of Flogas. I am inclined to believe that they really are trying to improve their behaviour and their image, and frankly not before time

Okay, firstly. have you seen a FLO GAS Agreement? I'm guessing you have as you sound like you have a relationship with them.

Clause 8.7 and 8.8 contain the information I mentioned.
(not sure if I'm able to upload it)

re. the switching agents. The point I was making was that I would question if the 'switching agents' gave you the best deal for you or for themselves. you can't beat phoning round yourself when you have a spare hour or two.

I'm not sure why they would charge almost double, especially seeing as though the customer has to do all the work to expose the tank (clause 8.8)

I would highly advise anyone thinking of changing providers to get a copy of as many contracts as they can and read them, carefully.

I have just read my first post back. Flo Gas actually charge £400 + VAT for underground tank removals (not £120) didn't read the reply properly.

    silly me!!:o

A friend of mine in Colchester is having trouble with Avanti at the moment, she has had a quote from Extra Fuel. they can do 35p for the first year and 38p for the second year, which is actually better than I get, :(

I would ring/email them and mention that you have a friend who has been offered this deal and see what they say. :)

I've been with Extra Fuel since June 2010 - so now on third 2 yr contract and obviously a satisfied customer. They are based in Manchester but down here in Cornwall deliveries are subcontracted to Flogas (no problems! But I deal with Extra Fuel, and pay Extra Fuel's prices - see HateLPG's charts and Extra Fuel website). I'm on the variable monthly price which gets posted the first or second working day of the month (after Extra Fuel have ordered from the refineries) and is valid for all orders that month. There have been two exceptions - once when it went up mid-month because the wholesale price rose suddenly and fast (but they honoured my order made just before the increase) and once when the wholesale price dropped fast - so Extra Fuel dropped their price mid-month.

They now also offer guaranteed prices - see Adam-C's post above.

AND you can talk to them - Paul Holt is the MD, Mark Slack main point of contact, their engineer (name escapes me - I've only talked/emailed once), Val, Chelsy, .. in the office). They are happy to fill self-owned tanks (if you are interested give them a ring).

I pay by card when I order - if Flogas deliver a bit more LPG than I've paid for upfront I get an invoice and pay the extra by cheque, if I get less then Extra Fuel quickly refunds the money to my card account.

AND I'll always be grateful that when I switched from BP who were giving me grief and refused to put any gas in my tank except a tankful at an extortionate price (I'd been their customer for 19 years!) Extra Fuel filled my tank before any contract was in place. Fortunately it was springtime so we used the last drips of LPG in the tank for cooking, and were very happy to have a tankful from Extra Fuel at 36.03 rather than from BP in the 60s!

Extra Fuel's sister company delivers LPG around their Manchester base using their own tankers: beyond this area Extra Fuel uses third parties to deliver (e.g. Flogas down here in Cornwall).

PS Forum users have reported that they have used Extra Fuel's transparent price when they have been negotiating prices for a new contract ..and found that the major suppliers are happy to undercut it. Of course. They know they can get their money back after the fixed term is over (or by use of clauses in fine print in their contracts about exceptional wholesale price rises). Maybe check out the Q&As for Lister Gases ANSI Tracker page (http://www.listergases.co.uk/anti.aspx)! And other posts on this thread. All the independents have this problem, it seems.

  • This question is aimed at HateLPG:

I know the sources are clearly shown in the top right, but do some of them require a special login to access so I can verify them. I'm just collating data on prices of LPG in the last year and was wondering how I could acquire the data. I'd also be very appreciative if people could give me websites that collect this sort of data.

    Regards,

    Jon Regnart.

    Hi Jon,

The information published on these charts is all gleaned from the public domain. Nothing is published that requires any kind of login or paid access, it's just a collation of what's already out there and the result of a lot of hard research. The ANSI prices published have been independently verified as being reliable.
