    Morning all!

MrT sent me some extra clubcard vouchers this week - £5 off a £50 spend for the next six weeks or summat. As last night's shop came to £12.29 (first spend of shiny new budget) I think he's trying to get me to spend more

Am going to try weaning my cats of the mega-expensive Whiskas. Bought a 12-pack of MrT's 'premium' chunks in jelly for £3.68 (Whiskas is £6.17 at the mo  ). Hopefully if they're hungry they'll eat it - if I'm down-branding I think it's only fair that they try too :p (if they really won't eat it then they'll go back to whiskas - obviously I'm not going to starve them)

Have a lovely weekend - hope the sun shines on us all

You could try mixing the Whiskas with Mr T. Mind you cats are crafty beings and some are able to pick out the bits they like and leave the rest, but it might work!!

    Have a good day everybody.
  • framkerooney you do need about 500 extra cals a day if you are breastfeeding and just trying to look after 2 is exhausting! my lo is 3 now but i remember what it was like. Have just had friend on phone crying with 6 month old and 2 1/2 year old as she is just exhasuted - little one not sleeping as has eczema.

HOw about houmus and warm pitta - put pitta in toaster sit, cut if you have more than one hand available and you can sit with tub and dunk!! This has been a life saver for me - and my ds will both eat it too!

right need to update signature - why i cam on but got distracted

    then hope to make breadrolls

I have been trying to get our dogs onto cheaper brands of food. I have been mixing Mr A complete food with a very expensive brand. They tend to leave it and not eat so I lift it and offer it later and they usually wolf it down. Aldi food was just being ignored. Our cats will eat anything usually, one of them though has gone to a neighbours for the summer as they have better food! She has done this for 3 years now so we are getting used to it. She comes back when it starts to get cold as they feed their cats in a shed.

I need to add up my till receipts to see what the damage is so far this month. We seem to be getting through mountains of food as I now have three sons and a friend to feed as well as DH and me. DD usually eats here too about 3 times a week.

Does anyone have any idea what I should be charging teenage sons who are living here and working, maybe what percentage of their earnings? DS1 is still a student (at 22) so I don't charge him and his is only a part time temporary job.

Hoping for a NSD today, may have to buy garlic though... We'll see. Having leftover pasta for dinner, hubby having freezer surprise which turned out to be sausage casserole so he's happy. Trying to run down freezer then i'll clean and defrost it. Need to do a biggish shop on sunday.

Cats and dogs will eat whatever is offered eventually, I was bullied by my dogs into expensive food and treats, I eventually closed my eyes to them turning noses up and not eating, they ate it eventually.

So far have spent a bit but I need to add it to my total, spending was in Lidl and Tesco but I can't get spending diary to open, so will update later. I need to take something back to Netto at some point, will pick up what was cheap in there when I go again. We've had 2 NSDs, I think I will spend less over the hols as I won't be walking past the shops every day taking DS2 to school! Then of course he's going to juniors after the hols and I won't have to walk past the shops at all to get there (apart from the pet shop)
One day I might be more organised...........

Re the !!!!! cats - mine used to eat only Whiskas supermeat  I decided to 'downshift' them & tried them on Mr T's own brand supermeat at £1.88 for 6 cans - pity they don't sell that type it in 12-packs or it would be even cheaper. If you have any Whiskas left - it might be worth buying a can or two if not - mix it with the Mr T's own brand something like 40/60 or 20/80 if you think they're mega-fussy. Gradually increase own brand & decrease Whiskas till you can cut it completely. Mine LOVE Mr Ts & in fact when I ran out they turned their noses up at expensive Whiskas bought from corner shop:eek:

Moniker - my thoughts are with you and your family.

mama67 - what a list of food you produced, what a star. Hope you can get some photos for us all to drool over.:p

BigMummaF - thanks for mentioning the Pearce & Duff Blancmange, not had this for years so wanted to recapture my Childhood and popped into Tesco this morning on my way back from School Run, 14p on the shelf but when I got to the checkout they came up at 66p, they checked the shelf and had to let me have them for 14p - just thought I'd mention it as anyone buying these with other shopping may not notice. Have made the Chocolate one for tonight.;)

Have also made some Courgette Muffins this morning. Planning Breaded fish, HM chips and mushy peas tonight - always do this on a Friday as it's quick and easy and the one day of the week where I don't have to cook a dinner from scratch.

Off out to water my veggies and cut some salad leaves for lunch - have a good day everyone.

GC for OH, myself, DD18 & DD16 includes Toiletries, cleaning stuff & Food.

  • Another NSD for me yesterday. Have home (pot) grown salad leaves and radishes in my lunch today.

Scotsaver if you notice that type of error in Mr T in the future. Say nowt pay up and go straight to customer services. They have to give you back double what you have been over charged ( big blue notice behind customer services). So in your case, they would of ended up paying you to take the blancmange home :-). You could also post this error on the "grabbit" board (bargainbuys and sassy shopping section of the forum), in the tesco misprices thread. This means other MES ers can take advantage of the double the discount IYSWIM
