I'd heard about this thread - first time I've dipped in. Page 15 already!
Last month I spent around £350. I'm struggling to get a budget together. So this month I am going to aim for £300, I've got a Sainsbury's order tomorrow for £170, but that includes all the meat I plan to cook until the end of July.
I've mealplanned til the end of the month. The total doesn't include OH's lunches.
Now I've committed, I am going to try and read this thread and keep up, but given what I have got in my life at the moment, that is going to have to wait til tomorrow.
What have I got myself into?Always another chapter0 -

Can you count me in too, i am aiming for £200, thats me , 2 kids ( 6 &13) cats , and a rabbit.
I have already spent £80.88. I think i am addicted to food shopping, particularly bargains. I have a freezer stocked so i need to look what i have this month and use that up instead of buying more and more, wish me luck.0 -
Just to add, there are four of us, if you count the evil cat, me, OH, DS (18 months) and evil cat Smoke.
My problem is I keep buying stuff, because it seems like a good idea then getting takeaways.:o Sigh. Last night I threw out a bin bag full of packets, tins and bottles that were well past their sell by date. The tins were getting rusty (damp kitchen) so I decided not to risk anything.
Another problem is evil cat Smoke is a pain in the armpit! We recently lost our older cat and Smoke is missing her. She has always had the bad habit of begging for food until we are ready to make a Smokeskin rug, then sniffing what we put down - or eating it all so fast that she is sick! We have temporarily switched her on to foil trays food because she doesn't actually eat that much (she's all fluff and malice) but she insists that food is put down. It's official, I am bullied by a cat. I am going to be giving our neighbours two trays of tinned stuff because Smoke just wasn't interested. Actually poor old girl (14) is desperately missing cat company because it is the first time she has been the only cat and she is terrified of DS.
So I have had a look at what is in my cupboards and I will be making an official list later. Also yesterday I sorted out my freezer, and was able to knock £10 off my Sainsbury's order because I found I already had the stuff in.
Now caught up to page three.Always another chapter0 -
Lordy, I'm new and I don't have a clue what I spend on food! I live alone, and I've got tons of tins and rice, freezer stuff, etc. - so I'm going to guess at £100 for this month. (Does this include toilet rolls, cleaning stuff, soap powder, etc.?)
I'll be starting from tomorrow.0 -
Stupid q.... but am I the only man here?
No, there are a couple lurking about. Cant remember their names off the top of my head though:o You are definately in the minority though! The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
my june grocery spend came in at £43.67 which is under budget by £6.33 - i'm very pleased with this, and so will set the july target for £50 again, although i may be going away on the 24th (in which case i will divide by the number of days in july and multiply by 24 to see if i stay on target!).
however, cupboards and freezer are looking quite bare!
