I spend less if I shop online, because I'm less likely to impulse buy. But I would advise shopping sober, because if you're a little tiddly all sorts of odd things end up in the virtual trolley! (I guess you shouldn't do a real-life grocery shop when tiddly either ...)

Ended up popping into the co-op because I want to do some scalloped potatoes for tea tomorrow (along with the ham hock I got at the weekend), so I needed cream. Also got gruyere to go on the top, and two bottles of sparkling grape juice which were BOGOF. Try to have that instead of wine for a few nights!

Was trying to work out why the holiday club fees seem to be such a shock. It's because we pay for the before and after school club in arrears, once a month, but the holiday club wants the whole 4 weeks paid two weeks before the holidays start. So in July, we'll be paying the June bill (£400), the July bill (£300) and the July-August bill as well (£700). It's a lot more than usual, but I suppose there won't be one again until the end of September. More a budgetting thing than a total expenditure problem. Just as well I haven't put the June 'savings' into the saving account yet.
    Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600
    Overpayments to date: £3000
    June grocery challenge: 400/600

Just thought ,you all seem to get your groceries delivered, is it better,

I usually like to see what I'm buying and therefore get out to the shops and pick it up and get my exercise walking around the store,,,,haha,

I think ordering online takes away the temptation to impulse buy. also, ordering all staples at the beginning of the month means you won't run out of basics when you're getting skint towards the end. That's why I do it anyway - otherwise it's just too easy to 'pop into Mr. S' for something and come out with £20 worth of stuff. I wouldn't advise buying fruit and veg online though - they seem to send the saddest specimens!

But they are retired hamsters so why not let them live in luxury![/quote]

That's how I feel about my moggie Mulder! (that's him in my sig.) He costs me about £50 a month on his luxury diet of tinned tuna, chickens and frozen prawns but he's old and I want to keep him well, and with us, for as long as possible.

He lost a few teeth in a few fights  and he throws up everywhere if he has actual cat food. (He can tolerate the evil Iams occasionally in a pinch.)

So I economise everywhere but on him. (Even though he's grumpy and quite often looks at me pityingly. :o:D

    Love Jacks xxx :D

Hi KAAT_LADY I choose to do mine online because i don't have a large supermarket in walking distance, my nearset is MrS but its about 5 miles out from me so by the time i pay for taxi its cheaper & easier to have it delivered. we have a small co-op & Aldi in walking distance for the bits i don't get online :D

A quick tip incase anyone is interested Woolworths often have specials on things like sweets & crisps for those of us who can't resist ;) at £1....well today they have got boxes of those Special K bars for £1, i hope that might be useful to somebody :D

No baking today as i've had too much housework to catch up on but yesterdays twinks & cakes are lasting us :D
Went & got some more strawbs, broccoli, cauli & pineapple from Aldi this morning so need to add that to my sig in a mo

SFT - I hope your day at work was good and that you didn't get too much abuse, just remember not to lower yourself to their low standards :D
Deniseflower - Hope your day turned out as a good new start for you

I have one day not on the PC and what happens 11 pages on the new thread.

Got a NOTW yesterday to get the £5 off if spend £30 voucher combined that with spend £50 and get 5p/ltr off petrol at Mr T today.

Had only intended spending the £30 needed to use voucher but saw the petrol offer so got some school uniform stuff in bigger sizes which I know will be needed and it was 3 for 2, to make the money up along with a pen drive for DS1 for using both here and at school for coursework and homework.

Anyways total grocery spend was £42.93 less the £5 voucher so £37.93 and all the peach squash I bought is to stockpile for the future again as it was on bogof, so actually only £32.28 spent.

Weetabix 24's are on 2 for £2 til 15/07 but they were out of stock so got a price promise voucher, as that is cheaper than Mr T own 48's.

    Will update signature now.
